Guess your are talking about Redfish Bay. I fish mostly Estes Cove to Hwy. 361 (hwy.& shrimp boat channel from A.P. to P.A.) In the skinny water free line 3" gulp shrimp in ivory or new penny. When free lining, very important to use a loop knot, Rappala or something similar. When the water gets deeper rig 1/8 oz. jig to same. Other baits to jig rig include plastics like Norton sand eels, salt assasins. Shrimp tails in red/wh were producing well a couple of weeks ago. Word is white tails on any dark color works better than chart. Bait soakers are using finger mullet mostly.

I don't soak bait very often, but live shrimp under a cork have never failed me. Usually, even in salt water, you try to match the bait and right now shrimp should be on the menu. Of course when using this method you are targeting trout, and believe me there are hordes of dink trout out there, caught more than I could count last trip and wasn't using live shrimp. In these conditions live shrimp dissapear almost as fast as they do when put in front of me! Gulps are generally good for 3-4 hook-ups. I realize that sticker shock may be hard to combat when staring down a bucket of these baits, by the way get the bucket if you go fishing even infrequently, the deal is they CATCH FISH, and are more economical than live. If you still aren't sold, get a couple of bags in different colors. They can be fished free line under a cork as well.

Fishing will be challenging this weekend. With the storm out east, the water along the coast has risen dramatically causing fish to really spread out. As of a few hours ago, there is a ton of floating grass all along the west end of the ULM making topwater fishing difficult. Also, there will be a huge tournament this weekend so expect extra boat traffic in addition to the typical weekend fleets.

I would mainly concentrate on channels (crash channels in ULM, drop-offs in the Meadows) or deeper rocks structures (White and Black Bluff or Center Reef in Baffin) and grind them with soft plastics.

Closer to Aransas, I would fish the guts along Dagger and/or Steadmans. Should be lots of redfish in there...again grind with soft plastics.....should be fish in there if you can get there before the tournament boats:)

Good Luck!

You'll be able to see them.....but keep in mind that the guts along Dagger run perpendicular to the shoreline as opposed to parallel like other shorelines--that's what's unique about the area. Might want to try the cove behind the island too...we call it "redfish cove".

Good luck!
