Went out yesterday and fished from the pier at Fort Sam houston with minnows. Caught a bit of everything. 1 smallmouth, 1 white bass, 3 largemouth and 5 crappie. Good day water is up 4-5 feet lots of bait fish swimming around and some good fish jumping around in the coves. Did some articfical baits with no takers.

Lake has been on the rise for over a month now. Watch out for floating debris.
Topwater bite has been fair early and late, along with a shallow crankbait bite. Middle of the day, best luch will be with finesse junk. Drop shot and shakey head will get the most bites (light flouro will help).

Mixed species off the point of Tom Creek. Water was clear so fish deeper, 10'-20' Shad cranks and swimbaits.

went out there last weekend with my boss on his boat, he was wanting me to put him on the fish, hadn't fished the lake in a while and went to a few memorable spots, but stuck out everywhere we went, had one on that had to be over 5lbs and lost it in the trees. other than that nothing but a few little bites.

+1 on Hendo's report. I came across a large school of LM at the steep walls around the water inlet. All were 10"-13".

Its been hit an miss for me as well. Fish seem to be SCATTERRRRREEEDDD everywhere. Only bite that has been consistent for me,is a mid day finesse bite. Early and late topwater has been good at times, but certainly not consistent.
Water temp was 67-69 on Saturday, and the fishing suuuuccccckkkkeeedd!!!!!
Saw alot of bass rigs out there Sat, and about 4 million sail boats.

Ahh, I was wondering why all those bass boats were out there on opening weekend deer season.
What Bass Club was it?

Great! How many boats turned out for your tourny?
4.5 lbs won it,was it a 5 fish limit?
I didn't do worth a darn on Saturday either, fishing was way off for me too.

I hit it tuesday and wednesday mornings. The weather was beautiful! The fishing not so great.
I caught 8 tuesday with 2 keepers....only 4 bites wednesday, landed 3 dinks.
water temp is 63/64
could find no pattern and no fish. I threw everything at em from 2 ft to 30 ft.
This time of year gets tough on canyon. I usually hang it up right about now until white bass season on that lake.
