Is there a particular article or website you're drawing this from? Wondering if there's something in particular that he said or did that you're referring to.
I'm sure he would love to take away the joy we get from fishing...

I overheard a couple of guys saying that Rick Perry is going to make us all give up Fishing and take up Tennis since it's his sport and better for our health. He is also mandating that we send all our kids to A&M. I can't prove any of it and I didn't bother to try and verify it myself, but thought I would post it here just the same.

Obama is not a fishermen...he backs the NMFS(made of a bunch of politicians and politically inspired economists and lawyers.. not fishermen) which is the government organization that sets many laws and limits in American waters...These "crooks" take away rights from private recreational sportsman such as ourselves and then up the commercial take further damaging fish stocks...the whole thing is about money and politics...they don't care about the fish or the private sportsmans rights....if you don't belive me look at what just happen with gulf amberjack

There are a couple of articles about this in the December 2009 issue of Sport Fishing magazine. It has to do with NOAA's Catch/Share programs for commercial fishermen and how they will impact recreational fishermen. It is too complicated to discuss here, but you might Google around and find a better definition of this than my limited comprehension can provide. Check out the Recreational Fishing Alliance site, www.joinrfa.org or the CCA site, www.joincca.org for more information.

Wait let me get this straight.. Obama wants to put money and resources into fisheries management in order to protect them and improve them for everybody and you guys have a problem with that?
Try reading up on the history of Redfish in this state, and how rampant overfishing by commercial fishermen almost wiped them out.
It was the people of Texas through their government, taking collective ownership of that fishery and declaring it off limits to commercial fishing that saved the fish and gave us one of our best loved sport fish.
Now that's what i call communistic. Texas anglers used the power of their government to put a stop to commercial interests for the betterment of the people for years to come, and the proof is in the pudding with the economic impacts of recreational fishing in this state.
The Texas cost and its fish are under attack from overfishing and nutrient runoff from farm lands as well as petroleum industry byproduct. What we need is research and action focused on allowing over-fished species a chance to recover, shifting commercial harvesting from at-risk fish to abundant fish, and minimizing the deleterious effects of nutrient runoff from farmlands.
Just because the guy has a (D) by his name doesn't mean he is a communist. People who say that have no idea what communism even is.

Dude you have no idea what you are saying....
NMFS (Obama) wants to lower the recreational takes for anglers (or even keep you from your favorite fishing hole)...and do so while increasing the commercial take..when commercial fishermen are the problem!...The history of protecting redfish was about the ANGLERS getting together and banning the COMMERCIAL netters!...For the government the whole thing is about money and jobs... They don't care about the resource or the rights of millions of recreational fishermen.

In my opinion the only thing our new President will do that will be in the best interest of this country is welcome tne newly elected Republican President to the White House in January of 2013.

First off how many fisherman and fisherwomen are there in the USA..Yep, quite a lot and suddenly that will ALL change because of some new rule that would prohibit that. I didn't read that but it will NEVER happen..get real!
Yep, get someone like Palin in there to make sure we ALL stay truly informed. The first trailer on the whitehouse lawn..a single or double wide? Or maybe like the NEW movie says we will be ALL dead by 2012.
Why is Obama the bad guy here with the fishing regulations? I read the article and wrote to Obama to make sense of what it means in public. I said use TV or whatever means to clear the air about it.
I am amazed at how the gun thing went and those who went overboard causing their own shortage by buying to much too quick. Now we have this sudden problem with sport fisherman which really is a commerical fishing problem. There is nothing really about the sport fisherman. It is an unclear mandate to be sure but let's no go crazy here.
I would like to know what these two guys said and how they read something different then what I read.
The water is getting warmer every year and fish are not producing as well as they were. Flounder and sea trout are effected. Read the Texas Fish Game magazine that talks about our fishing problems and also the joy of fishing. It is informative and blows by the hear say [censored] that starts this kind of thread.
I have better things to do with my time like go fishing.

Commercial fishermen are gaining the share that is taken from recreational anglers, therefore nothing is being preserved...and its at the cost of your grandchildren's angling futures...private anglers are the biggest advocate for the resource..and they are getting replaced by big government actions that advocate abusive commercial fishing and corruption inside the NMFS. I personally don't give a [censored] about our lame duck pres...its the other people on his team.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim September 26, 2009, as National Hunting and Fishing Day. I call upon the people of the United States to recognize this day with appropriate programs and activities.
This above statement after Fly fishing in Montana. Maybe he hears those who want future fishing and hunting to go on. He can use the internet and read comments about him like anyone else.
He went to PA to give a speech praising the hunters and fisherman for being a big part of the conservation efforts in the sports. He then claimed Sept.26 as the day. Whether you think it was political or not this is recorded and will be ammo against him if he faulters in any way. I believe as I said above in another post too much mis-information is running rampent about his policies.
Let us look at the positive end of this and go catch some fish or get that deer to put in the freezer. Sportsmen are the best people to know..passion of the sport plays a big part in their lives..I'll be taking my daughter of 13 out fishing during the Thanksgiving holidays. She is getting good at fishing.

Regardless if I believe this will affect me or not I did go to http://www.keepamericafishing.org/index.html and used the "send a letter" link. This allows your voice to be heard, I figured it was better than sitting back and totally ignoring the possibility of it affecting me.
