i wasn't at my boat so i mounted it to a pieace of pcv to show you they would work on your rails without drilling holes.

Hey toadKiller pretty neat but where did you get the mount. I dont think Steven168 has any Rails but I sure do.

the mounts are c.b. antena brackets. new they are about $10 each but at the fle market you can find them for a$1 each alot of times.

at home depot . they are $4 each. i got about $5 each tied up in them. but i alreadt had several of the clamps.

Save a little money doing it this way... Old style Bee Readys are $11.. he says these are $5..... I do however LOVE my bee readys!

By the way what are the loop dealys made from. Understand you got them at H>D> but what are they used for when not making killer rod holders.

Look like D-Rings to me KC........ Good idea but if you payin full bump for them CB Antenna mounts that gona get expensive. I bet you could go to a Semi or Commercial Vehicle salvage yard and FLAT LOAD up on them things for little to nothin..............

What about the time and gas spent gathering the parts....not everyone just has CB antenna mounts and D-Rings laying around not to mention the time to assemble.

Real quick that savings starts to become zilch.

Now....if you want to make something just for the sake of making something then by all means go for it.

i'm sorry if i affended anyone. i made these for myself and they work for me. i would never tell anyone that they had to make these , but just wanted to show what i did. it's getting harder and harder to want to stay on the tff. it could really help people learn some new things. but it get pretty discourging that people are constanly telling other that they are wrong . it's not just in the catfishing but in all the catogories it's this way. as far as the beeready fans, i didn't tell anyone not to buy your product and i've never used them to even see if they work. i've heard great things about them. i would just rather make my own stuff instead of ordering them from you, or your uncle or you dad or whoever you are trying to turn this forum into a commerical for.

I just make my girlfriend hold my rods. It's much cheaper.

I don't think anyone was offended and I think the OP made excellent use of materials he had laying around.

However, its also true that there are products out there that are mass produced for holding rods and the actual cost difference is negligible.

To each their own.

Well, I've just wanted to thank Tall Tale for remembering that I have a bass boat and have been looking for a decent, yet semi-classy way to get some rod holders on my bass boat. I have found some awesome ones that would mount onto my rod cleats, but I'm planning on a worst case scenario using at least 3 anchors that would keep me as stable as possible in higher winds. In the end, I had opted to buy a bass boat and wish that I had investing in a center console instead. As it turns out, Mr. Cliff Hill turned me on to some ideas. I've ordered some dual rod holders with a really high stem from this guy off of Ebay. He sells the normal style rod holders, but he also sells the same holders uncoated...and they cost less. Big Country Hill showed me the rod bases and I have a decent setup that should come this week. I appreciate any and all inputs. Seeing people come up with their own ideas and set ups is just as interesting to me as a fish story. I'm a nerd about fishing, and there are just so many different variables that work out there for everyone. If Toadkiller had an idea that he put into motion and he thought he would share it, I believe that's the true nature and spirit of this forum. In the end, it's all about sharing stories and trying to help others rip some lips. Keep in mind, it's us against the kitties!
