Got this in my dead shrimp bait and have no clue what it is, anyone have a clue???

They call em sea lice at the baitshops.
I used to use them in corpus christi off the piers to catch HUGE BLACK DRUM. They stay on your hook better than shrimp. And are just as good dead (as long as they're fresh) as they are alive. Be careful when you're hooking it though, they're throny little bastards.

Yeah, supposedly these things have even broken the glass in aquariums. Got one in some crappy boiling shrimp from Asia, eats just like crappy asian shrimp.

Was fishing with Destroyer a couple weekends ago and his friend caught one on a line that probably went 10 inches or so. maybe he can post up a pic as I was surprised to see one that large but hey, he caught it on a whole shrimp so it must of been hungry( or just had a beef with that shrimp and felt like boxing,lol)

For it's size, it has the most powerful 'punch' than any other animal. Kinda like a "ninja shrimp" wouldn't you say? I guess it is from too much watching National Geographic TV on my part.

Sea lice are awsome bait for big black drum. We went out on one of those big bay boats out of port a, and this guy on the back of the boat had brought a bunch of them with him. Like you i had never seen anything like it. He told me how they were some badasses and how to grab them without getting jacked up. Then he showed me how well they work for black drum when he landed a 40+" black drum that had to weigh over 30lbs.

im tryna find a bait shop that carries these down here on the galvston or kemah area,,im still gunna try an use theone i have frozen and see if it works lol

looks like what some people call ghost shrimp. to me looks like sea lice. i heard from locals in corpus that they use ghost shrimp for specs.

yes, they call them sea lice here. Ghost shrimp are another story.

ive never seen them sell sea lice/ mantis shrimp in any bait shops,,i guess there not very in demand or the just dont catch alot of them??

Mantis shrimp ... they're on the west coast as well. They have some seriously sharp fins/spines along the back half of their body.

Back when I lived on Oahu I heard stories of someone catching one of those in Ala Wai Canal that weighed like 2 or 3 lbs. or so. For the record that canal is pretty darn polluted. If you fall in you better seek medical attention ASAP.
