1. Whats the best way from DFW area?
2. What question do you wan't me to ask JC while we are there?
3. What do you think the Big Bass of the trip from anyone might be?

I couldn't tell ya how to get there from DFW, but what I can say is that we had a tournament there this weekend and the three biggest fish weighed in were an 8.64, 7.94, and a 7.2 and that's only with 18 people in the tourney. So, I would bet big fish would be around 8 or 9.

I've taken several trips to Amistad from DFW and have tried different routes. The best one by far (and most scenic) is I-20 to Abilene and 277 all the way to Del Rio.

Not sure about scenic, but I was told by Kurt Dove that the best way is I-20. I took 67 all the way to 277, and it was okay, but lots of slow downs in the little towns along the way. Big fish will be 8.5. Have fun and be careful!

I will second the I-20 to Abilene route, been 3 times and very nice trip, not much slow down time,

exactly how clear is amistad? how many feet deep can you see down to the bottom?

If it's a sunny, calm day, you can easily see 20'-25' down.

Typically pretty much gin clear although I am not sure on current conditions. I may be crazy, but at times around rock and grass... it seems I can see down 20 feet. I know I've found bedding fish in 10 plus feet and easy to see with good conditions.

20-25' in clear conditions!!

Best way to get there is in your truck!

lol I can't wait! I'm ready to go too. Just cleared it with my boss to cut out of work early Wednesday night too!

Retiring there in four years!!!! Counting the days! Nothing in the state like it. Fish where you want--throw what you want--you'll catch 'em. Lived on salt water my whole life! If it doesn't bite you,it stings you,if it doesn't sting you it slims you or worst yet the Vibrio will kill you. And no hurricanes or stinky mud to deal with. Fish for one day and take two days to clean up the mess!!! Clear--Fresh--Clean Amistad is calling!!!

Now that`s scary.
