Had a tourney last weekend. As I was hooking up the boat I noticed my Hummingbird 997 was no where to be found. Well I thought I might have misplaced it so I fished without for the day. I tore up my garage, went through all storage in my boat and decided it was gone. I got the bright idea to check Craigslist and low and behold there was one on there. This wasnt a huge coincidince since many people have graphs for sale. This one happened to be in my home town of Springtown and looked like it was taken in the pistol case I used to safe store it in. He also was asking $1000. So he obviously knew what he had. Anyways if you bought a Bird from a guy in Springtown and want the rest of it I will sell it to you also. I have the GPS puck and side imaging transducer I will sell .
I have good INS. so i will get to replace it. Would yall go with the same one and then do the upgrades in 2 months for down imaging or wait for the new ones to come out.

It'll probably take 2 months to get a settlement,..I'd wait..who knows maybe the guy will go down on his price, and you can get your old one back too,..good luck.

Humminbird should have your serial number from when you registered it as well to prove it was yours.

Wow, if I was the insurance company this sounds more like you've set it up and cashing in on it! You didn't mention any police involvement, or try to investigate. Just oh well and let the insurance pay off. Wow.

Sounds to me like he's getting the shaft from both directions and is just fed up with it all. I've had stuff stolen out of my truck before and it can be very frustrating. By the time it's all over months later, and how little is done about it, you almost regret reporting it. I actually know someone who had a car radio stolen when I was in college. He found it at a local pawn shop and had the serial numbers at home to prove it was his. He called the police and they suggested that if he want that specific radio back, it would be quicker and less paperwork to just go purchase it from the pawn shop. That sux!!! Unfortunate but true story.

He also may be looking for the fastest way to get his boat ready for upcoming tournaments. Insurance can be as little as a few weeks, and anything else is much much longer. When your the victim, sometimes you just want the fastest resolve to get your life back to normal . . . . . can't blame him for that.

I get it. Didn't think of it that way. I would just be careful, cause an insurance company can be real easy to deny you for the simplest thing too. Come to think of it, you would need a police report for the insuance company anyway.

I would have called the guy on craiglist, and checked the serial number. If it matched boxing

I hope you don't have State Farm. When all my rods and reels were stolen from my boat on my driveway they said that they were not covered because they were not part of the boat, but they then said if it had been skis it would have been covered, i still have not fiqured that 1 out!!!

I have State Farm and they have paid twice in the past when rod and reels and tackle boxes were stolen out of my boat. I would pursue that past your local agent, that should be a covered loss.

no Army as soon as i realized it was in same town I emailed to ask if he had all gps transducers etc to go with it. I went to police next day so maybe they could stage a buy or something. The guy would not reply to me. I still have the box with the serial number on it. I put all that in police report.
I do have state farm and they have paid to replace it allready. They said if guy is prosecuted then i will get my $250 deductible back.
Next day i get an email back from the guy saying he sold it. I took a copy of the email to put in police file but I havent heard anything from them. My graph will get replaced but pisses me off sucker was going through my stuff. He knew what he was getting because he asked $1000 for it. He didnt mess with my curado E7's or falcons just took my dang graph.

i think my agent could be the problem, I will not mention any names but, they would not cover my stolen rods and reels luckily my homeowers ins, covered it. And my boat was sitting on my driveway when it got hit..
I am currently paying more for my Toyota Yaris than for my Ford F250 Lariet. My agent said it was because of it being our 3rd vehicle.. I checked into switching to a different ins. company but because of a wreck my wife had a few years ago and the way it was handled as our agent told us to handle it, the other companies won't take us, THANKS STATE FARM!!!!

Sounds pretty much like normal policy.....can you ski from the bank shoreline?..probably not so your skis likely tend to stay with the boat. Can you cast/fish from the shore...probably so, so you likely store your rods and reels and tackle inside at night.

I have State Farm and when I went to them they explained what boat insurance does and doesn't cover vs a homeowners policy. Makes sense if you think about it. I had a recent claim and State Farm paid me up fully and quickly. If your agent isn't to your liking or doing their job, there's another one round most every corner.

my advise would be Not to wait ,untill you have a claim ,to see what your paying for..Get with your agent and go over possibilities that could cost you money..your paying for it,so you should know what your paying for..

i had the same question for state farm why does my wifes impala cost more to insure than my 3/4 ton dodge 4wd. diesel was told it is because it is rec. use only since i ahve a third vechile dosent make sense to me but i guess state farm figures since it is on the road less than my wifes car less chance of it being in an accident maybe i guess.

Thanks for the clarity. Should it happen to me I now have a method how to handle it. I have State Farm too and I have made sure I am covered for rods, reels, electronics etc.

it was not mounted but in the boat in a case under the tarp. I guess you neeed to make a list of equipment and go over it with them and make sure you are covered...
