I live in Red Oak and would like some info on these two lakes please.

I ordered some Secret Seven that I want to try out next weekend.

I use a canoe sometimes but mostly just fish from the bank.
I know Bardwell is much higher than normal, I went out and looked at both lakes today while just killing time with the wife.
I really liked Waxahachie Creek Park, the trees along the banks are flooded right now. Don't know if that matters.
That park looks like a great area to camp also but there were only a few trailers there, no tents. Hmmmm----
Anything you folks can tell me?

I fish Bardwell often and have also camped there many times. I always launch and camp at High View Park and the High View Marina offers Crappie fishing from facilities there. Sandy and Vic are owners and very friendly, you can call and she will let you know how the catchin' is. She told me a few days ago they should be open in a few days with the lake level being drawn down.

Pretty good fishing from the bank sometimes in High View Park along the far point. The cove by the Marina also offers up some good fishing at times, good for your canoe as is Wax Creek Park. The water might need to settle down a few days after the gates are closed, I am sure the water is very muddy, it's very murky/muddy normally.

I also fish Wax Lake pretty often. Wax Lake offers some bank fishing close to the dam is good and the west most park has a cove at the side that offers some pretty good bank fishing. I caught a 6.5lb Bass there a couple of years ago from the bank in that cove. There is an island across the lake from the east most park you will find many BPs that produce well. I have only had good luck on those BPs in the dead of winter. Wax Creek goes under 35 with an area to park. Good place for your canoe in the creek there during the early Spring, they are up there spawning, you can paddle all the way to the lake, which is not far.

For easy fishing from the bank, the little jetty is really good. In prime months you'll need to get out early. We've caught lots of fish there (Large Mouths, Crappie, Sandies) on minnows and an assortment of lures. The biggest being a 3.5 lb LGM on a Daredevle.

There are a lot of fish on the dam. Lots of loose rock too. HAve fun and let us know how you do.

I believe the "jetty" he's talking about is the middle boat ramp on Lake Waxahachie, but I could be wrong
