Guys....if you are on this site and you aren't fishing the North Texas Trophy Cat tournaments you are missing more than you can possibly imagine.

The only way you can possibly get more bang for your buck is to hire a guide for a day....for $30 fishing these tournaments is the best learning experience you can possibly have. You are going to fish anyway...spend the extra $30($60 for the team) and fish the tournament, you won't be dissapointed.

My partner(Holzer) and I fished the first one yesterday on Tawakoni. I'm a life long striper and saltwater fisherman, Holzer has been chasing whites and their bruiser cousins for a couple years, both of us are NOOBs when it comes to the scaleless denizons of the deep. I know for a fact that we can't even begin to process everything we learned in a day and a half at the tournament. You won't find a more helpful group of guys than at these tournaments.

I've fished a number of saltwater tournaments on the gulf coast that span 100's if not thousands of square miles and it absolutely amazed me how helpful the participants were at the tournament. These are guys that know full well they will be fishing not only against you but possibly next to you....guys at the coast don't even have to worry about seeing another boat yet they won't share a thing. It was an eye opener for me.

Ken and his team did a great job with the tourney....I'm sure it will improve every time around yet I'm not sure how.

We will definitely be seeing everyone on January 9th at Lavon....another lake we have zero experience on.

P.S> We placed 11th......double digits won't cut it for us so there is only room for 8 other contestants in the top 10 at the next tourney. LOL

Well said Baitfish. This is my second year to fish some of their tourneys and I really enjoy them. I joined the NTTC yesterday because I enjoy the events and they're a great bunch of guys and I want to support them. I wish I had known Holzer was going to be there I would've made an effort to meet him finally. I've been harrassing him on the whites forum for some time. grin After I decided to take a swim eeks Ken was good enough to meet me at the Fish N Store to allow me to at least weigh-in so I could go get some warm clothes on. I really was suprised he did that and am very greatful. I look forward to the Lavon tourney and the others coming up. This time I'll have some warm, dry, clothes and shoes in case the mood strikes me again to swim.
