All, Newman's Bottom and the trail area will be closed this weekend for Youth Deer Hunts. If you are in a kayak in the Yegua Creek kids will be close to that creek in a few areas as well, they will be with adult supervision. Say 6:30 AM-9:30 AM and 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM the kids will be in the deer blinds, just Fyi.
The State Park has kayaks and canoes to rent They have 4 singles/2 tandems and several canoes; they rent for $5 per hour. I'm gonna see if I can get the park staff to offer shuttle service to Newmans Bottom for the day or maybe have some volunteers do it.. This is going to be a great day at the park!
For your friends or spouses that don't fish maybe they would like to come and just enjoy birding and nature walks. Gary Fritcher will be there to lead birding walks during the day close to the park..

hoggwild there is plenty of room. The whites should be running some by then and I can show you that little crank bait I have been using a couple of years now. It drives the whites crazy. Crappie have been doin really good on conroe and livingston. I caught 23 really nice keepers and as many throw backs yesterday at livingston. I couldn't stay too long and had to leave with the fish still bitin.
Okay folks, I just looked at my schedule and I have nothing planed for that day. So I’ll be out there.
I have also been asked if I would be willing to give a little demonstration on the Yegua creek. I told HL&S that I would be more than thrilled to share what ever I can with others about catching whites. I fish for LMB year around, but when the white bass run kicks in, I put LMB fishing on hold for a little while. To me, this is the best type of fishing in the world. I get the biggest thrill out of white bass fishing and I have for many, many years.
I didn't have time to post last night and I worked today, so I'll post now.
I kayaked Nails yesterday, we went to the bridge...fishing was slow in the creeks. Although, my buddy did manage two White Bass, we didn't leave with much. I saw about four different birds I've never seen before. The mouths are a little tough to find due to all the growth.

that kayak got a hole in the middle of it! definatly bring it out to the get together (the one for sale) if its not sold by then. im really interested.
I am adding a twist to the event on January 9th. We will bring no fish to the fish fry! With a huge leap of faith we will depend on the fishermen's ability to catch fish on that Saturday. It will be a contest to feed the hungry masses back at the park.. And the winners will be all of us..
