Planned on heading to Tawakoni at noon today, but got caught in a meeting until 2, didn't get to the lake until 5pm. As we where docking at Holiday the water behind the boat docks started boiling! Largemouths maybe???

Threw the net at the dock and it only took one cast to fill up the live well. All where 3 to 5 inchers! Just as we started heading out of Holiday, the water started BOILING with gulls working the surface about 200 yards out! We started off by throwing 5" sassys looking for the big hybrid bite. We fished and fished and FISHED, only ended up with a few bumps and finally found out they where sandies. We switched, downsizing our baits and the sandies where coming in the boat left and right! As the sun set as did the fish. We checked 2 more spots and was back at the boat dock by 7:30

Saw Matt guide service out fly fishing. I'll have to give that a try one day. My lamiglas fly rod been collecting dust for YEARS.

Water was mirror smooth!

Sounds like a slow day. My dad and one of his friends hired Matt yesterday. He said they got in to some fish but the full moon and no clouds has hurt the fishing recently. They still caught fish though. My dad's friend is a big fly fisherman. I have never learned to fly fish myself. Maybe one of these days.

Hey Hamster--was that you last nite in a boat with @ 5 guys? I was the one by myself in the maroon Javelin out from Holiday when the topwater bite turned on. I ended up catching a limit of hybrids and dozens of magnum sandies. When they went down I caught them on slabs. Left 'em biting when it got too dark to see. Matt's bunch looked like they were having a ball with the fly rod. Funny thing--in the midst of the topwater action I could not get one to hit a topwater. I got a couple of half hearted swirls, but nothing would commit. Anyone have any thoughts? I was throwing a small spook and torpedo. All fish were caught in 7'-10' on TNT 180 and were released to catch anopther day.

Yup, that was me! grin HI!

We threw just about everything there was trying to buy a hybrid bite. Figured they where down below the sandies so we fished 5" sassys slow under them. NOTHING. When they started schooling, we where THE only 3 boats around. They got me so HYPED up! I too couldn't get a bite on topwater. Threw zara spooks, super spooks, and even a saltwater topdog. They didn't even chase them.

Best thing about this trip.... I probably burnt about one gallon of gas

on a bad note, dang boats having issues again! mad dang boat having a REAL hard time starting!

Sorry to hear about the boat issues--frustrating. It is nice to not use much gas though. Since I have been storing my boat at Holiday I use it 3 times as much as when it was in my garage and it makes mama happy thumb
