I moved here from Tennessee almost 2 years ago and I have always noticed that fishing is better when current is available. Besides crappie fishing, I also love to bass fish and the professional fisherman catch more fish when the gates are open.
Yesterday I fished Lavon and I only caught 1 fish until I moved to the dam. The current was so strong I was being pulled towards the gates and that was against the wind. We caught 36 with 22 keepers in no time at all.
Do not let the gates being open discourage you. Current and wind can be your friend. As long as the wind is not blowing 20 plus miles an hour.
I will post picks later today.
