I did not see any whites moving up stream. Couple of days ago I saw well over a hundred. Also all but two fish were males and nothing over 13 inches. Is the run almost over?

Mike, it was nice to meet you. Hope your day ended well.

Monster it was nice to meet you too. Thanks for the fish. I ended up cathing 7 more fish before the bite just virtually stopped and I had to go.

First time I got out this year. Went upstream from Irwin's Bridge and fished all the way to the falls. I ended up cathching a total of 15 fish (13 WB, 1-24" hybrid, and 1-Goo). Monster gave gave me a stringer of 8 fish. The fish were much appreciated. It was a long hike back with the WB and the hybrid added about 6 pounds to my bucket. I'll post pics soon.

I had to work today and then we had to go out of town to look at wedding stuff. It was close to where my Dad lives, he has a place that has a creek that comes off of the Trinity. I took my son and two nephews just to get the kids out fishing for a bit. Glad I did cause those boys were knocking them out!! I was stringing fish for about an 1 1/2 hours for them while they were just catching them one after another. We ended up with a limit in that little time. Good thing is that the Trinity will drop causing those Whites to trap up in there...I'll have plenty of Whites. I think I'll go w/o the kids next time so I can go from hole to hole. They didn't want to walk much, but then again they didn't have to. That limit came out of one hole... thumb

Hey HL&S, did you ever hear back from TPWD and find out the results of what took the life of this eagle?

Because if you did post a report, then some how another I missed it.

Went 3/11, thursday at about 10:30 at Irwins. Started slow. One nice female the first hour, then found a stretch with 2 and a hole where I caught 6 all males. Went way upstream and caught 2 more Females. Slow so I started heading back. Fished where I caught the 6 and caught another 5 males. Down stream alittle more caught a few where I could see them spawning right on the edge. Lost about a 4 lb hybrid. Studied how they reacted to different presentations and colors. A 1/16 oz black/yellow feather jig slowly retrieved with a little jigging action every 2-3 seconds killed them. They couldn't resist. Fished a couple more small holes and caught another 11-12 and then I found a nice hole with some current. Caught a few and then met a guy from Austin and showed him waht I was doing. Fished that hole for about an an hour and a half. We caught 2 crappie and no telling how many whites with a hybrid or two in there. But then I had to go meet the realtor to look at a house. Caught and realeased about 50 fish today, by far the best I have ever done. Probably only about 7-8 females, and one small gar. Good to meet you Chris. Hope to be out there again soon to fish and meet some more good people. Later, Clint

Hoggwild, are you basing this on something you've heard or just on the lack of reports. Because heck, maybe people are still busy cleaning all the fish they caught and haven't had a chance to report yet.

Wade, I'm thinking about heading that way tomorrow. If I do, I'll give you a call.

Jsinn...your absolutely right! I shouldnt be downing the bite until I find out for myself. I usually do better when people come back with a "bad report". I think they just dont want to spread the word. thumb Il be there for sure in the AM. I just cant juke this Whitebass Itch!

You'll need a alot of Mineral blocks out there.lol

Water temp on the main lake avg. 60.8. banana
One more week of sunshine out there. Graphed plenty of fish on the edge of droppoffs. Saw bait on top and on graph.

Today on the Yegua was an awesome day. Went to Irwin bridge and went upstream first thing. Arrived on the waster at 11:30 am and was off by 6:30 pm. Seven hours of fishing and I ended up with sixty eight fish for the day, oh and one channel catfish that couldn’t resist my jig.

The first hour was the best bite of the day. I had twenty fish in one hour. Only caught a few smaller fish in the next thirty minutes, and then it was like someone had turned the light switch off, and there was no bite at all. Walked all over the place today checking out some new holes that I have never fished before, and found some really good fishing holes. I wasted some time doing this, but now I know where there are a few more good holes that are holding some good fish.

Took a thirty minute brake to get something to eat and drink. Decided to go downstream to see what all I could find, and I’m glad I did, because I was on some more good steady bites. The best part about this fishing trip was the fact that I didn’t have any fish to clean once I got home today. No stringer of fish to haul around while I was fun fishing, man that was great. I sure had a lot of people looking at me kind a funny as they would watch me release fish after fish today.

I said I would start taking some pictures of other anglers down there with their stringers, and I did manage to get a few.
I also saw a lot of limits come out of there that I didn’t take pictures of, but there were some good numbers caught today. Also heard that were several good hybrids caught around the bridge are. I didn’t ever see these fish, but was told by others of this information.

Two snap shots of that catfish that just could not resist my jig.

This is Spencer and his Dad with a few whites that were caught upstream from the bridge. They were having a great day on the water together today. It’s always nice to see a Dad with his kid or kids fishing.

Speaking of father and son trips, this is Ted and his Dad with a very nice stringer of fish. They were fishing upstream from the bridge and there was four people in their party that was fishing together today.

And this is a picture of my counter. It’s not near as appealing as a limit stringer of fish, but it’s all that have to show for my catch today, other than that cat.

Here is some more info for you folks going tomorrow. When the sun is over head, look for the fish in the deeper water a long the eddies. In the morning or towards the end of the day when lighting seem to be a little dimmer, then look for the bite in and near the faster flowing shallow water.

Also today, out of those 68 fish, I only caught something like 12 females today, and they didn’t seem to be real full of eggs. I also didn’t see any spawning action on the surface at all today. I’m not sure if the spawn is winding down, or the water temp has dropped to the point where it’s to cool for them to spawn.

I may be back down there tomorrow myself, but if I do go, then I need to get there early because I have some stuff to do around 1 pm.

My wife told me this morning that she will be so glad when this white bass spawn is over. She said that I was obsessed with this whole white bass fishing thing , and that I fish to much. I replied back, well honey, as long as we have been married, you should know the drill by now, because I do this ever year. She said, I know, but some times I think you take it to the extreme. I told her that there was only a couple more weeks of this spawn left, and then it will be over. I also told her, but then it will be time to start hooking up the boat and start ripping some lips on those big oh bass bedding up on their beds. She just shook her head and walked away. I’m just trying to be honest, and let her know what to expect next. Spring time fishing is the best, and you got to get out there while the getting is good.

Started out today at Irwin Bridge. The bite was slow, but I managed to catch a couple. Went over to Newman's Bottom and caught 5 more fishing upstream of the bridge. Saw a few stringers with 5 or 6 fish today, but definitely no limits or even close. The water is still pretty high at Newman's. I tried some spots downstream, but I didn't even get a bite.

Best lure for me today was a 1/16oz white roostertail. The fished seemed to be biting close to the bank and around submerged logs.
