I couldn't take it anymore so decided to fish today and putt around near the ramp with my impaired tilt/trim on my engine. Getting shad was pretty tough this morning, so I used some of the 3/4 bag I got last night at the Little elm ramp (not many good gizzards) The cats were pretty active this morning in the shallows when the clouds were out, then almost shut down completely on me when they went away around 11am. I probably should have tried to drift at that point, but after talking with a few others on the lake it didn't sound like that was any better. Ended the trip with 20 keepers and released one around 17-18 pounds. Larry sent me a pic of a pretty good one he caught in the shallows as well (around 25-30), but I guess I'll have to wait till tonight to see what else he caught. Nice enjoyable day on the water, unfortunately I probably won't get to go back out for at least another week due to crazy work sched.

Some of the keepers given away at the ramp

Biggest fish of the day

Also tangled with 2 of these about the same size today that were lots of fun to reel in

Well, I started out pretty good, but it went downhill after that, caught a nice fish, I had 2 sets of scales and one said 27 1/2 and the other said 32 so I'm gonna call it 30 lbs. This was the only bite I got in this place, I moved to another place and tied up to a tree, caught 3 and missed 2 real fast, then that was it, fished another couple of hours and picked up 3 more, tough fishing, but it was a nice day, and fun while it lasted!!!

I just had to try it there, the water was pretty swift, I was suprized that was the only bite I got there, and up north of it looked really good, I got to git me some trees to take with me, there isn't much to tie up to up there, and a lot of places to fish!!!

Glad you had a good day Eric, you've been doing pretty good lately, Keep it up, and Good Luck to Ya!!!

I wish I would have gone back there now after seeing that one. Would have gladly traded days with you for him smile
And yes...get you some poles so you don't come unanchored and can fish where you want as long as it's shallow enough. Next time I'll put more gas in the boat so we can both split up there and get em.

Well, I would've taken the difference in the two scales, divided it in half, then added it to the highest number after rounding up the remainder. So I came up with 35lbs. That's how I would do it. grin

That sounds good Eric. My brother will be in town and I would like to get him on some cats. I have been stuck in flathead bait mode so I need all the help I can get.
