I'm learning the art of casting. I bought a 5' mono and I'm netting very few to none up on north side ...( primary Johnson Branch ). could I get some direction on where to toss this net on this lake. We fish off a pontoon and launch at JB also. Thanks for any tips passed along.

Had success below the damn, marina, the pecan creek area, and near buck creek ramp.

I have never been able to catch shad on Ray Roberts consistantly, unless they are letting water out, and you can catch them behind the dam, then go fish in the lake!!!

Too bad I live on the north side of the lake .....but looks like going down to the dam will get me some shad. I'll also try the marina once we are out on the water. Thanks for the replys.

I went behind the dam last nite, and got some, but they were mostly threadfins, didn't get many big gizzard shad, I only took my small net, I'm sure I could of caught more with the bigger net, but like I said, they were mostly small!!!
