primitive area on river and at taylor park is always good. also near the dam there is a spot to park and walk down on the south side. use cut shad fresh is best. channels been biting well on big marvs and secret seven up in river real well.

was at the primitive friday morn. Used shad stinkbait had lots of runs but could not get a single hook up, could it have been turtles or really small cats

Real small cats. If you want to catch cats right now, go below the spill way. Take some real big weights to hold in the drift. Use shad, shrimp and any other bait that will hold in the current. Catching some nice blues right now in the current. If you fish the primitive right now, use chicken livers. The cats are holding on to them longer for you to set the hooks. Use #1 size hooks with the chicken liver.

If you are using shad there is also the possibility of gar, they are hard to hook.

Nobody was really having any luck behind the damn today. What about the #6 area of the rive anygood for cats right now. I also looked at Taylor park, but have no idea where to fish at over there. People have always told me the slough at T.P. but with the water so high i just do not know how or where it would be.

Should i be keeping my bait right on the bottom. Or do i need a 3way swivel to try to keep it off the bottom. Using liver, shad stink bait on a treble, shrimp, and worms.what is the best set up for these 4 baits?

They are dropping that lake 6" a day. Hopefully Spud got on them today. But everyone else has been having a hard time on the lake. To much of a change to quick. The weather today had a big influence today. Buddy of mind caught a 32 lb blue last night below the dam. Caught it on SureShot Stinkbait. Only bite they got.

Did OK yesterday. Fishe dthe river, the mouth and stump field flats. Fish were scattered, catch one or two and move. Figured this out after the first two spots. Fishing the flats outside the river. There was flow in the river but its because they are letting water out, not water coming in. The fish had pulled out onto the flats. Caught 6 fish all in the 3-6 pound range in 9-15 foot of water. My daughter lost a real nice fish, one that was pulling drag on a abu 6500, 65 lb power pro and a tight drag. Lots of submerged timber and the fish found a stump and tied to it! LOL. All fish except for 2 caught on fresh shad caught that morning. Even the shad was scattered, took about hour and half to catch enough for a few hours. Luckly caught one nice 1 lb buffalo which the other 2 fish were caught one. Biggest fish was a 18 lb buffalo caught in cast net, man that was fun!!!!

Very true but granger is letting out way more than georgetown so the water flow through the river is "pulling" not new flow. http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/reports/fish.htmshows release of georgetown being 254 and granger at 1251, thats a 5-1 ratio.

Did good Spud with that lake dropping. They got the gates back to 1650 today. Once they get Granger back down and they start to let more out of Georgetown, the channel cats fishing should pick back up in the river. Commanche Bluff is always a good spot to start checking out when the water is coming in.

I like live perch, yellowcat! Cut carp, great, they bleed out in the water. Commanche Bluff is up the river. It is a huge gravel bluff. The bank is real high there, a straight drop. If you have a hard time finding it, there is a sign on FM 1331, that says, Commanche Bluff. It's where the Commanche's use to camp when the river was out. It's before you hit the primitive launch. If you have ever ran up the river, I know you seen it.
