he became overly confident in his cheating ways, and slipped up. havent you ever heard that thieves get careless over time, and will eventually slip up and get caught. hes been suspected for quite some time, thus the reasoning behind basschamps to put an observer in his boat with him... notice that after that decision was made, he never fished another basschamps event..... i saw rumor that at one tourney his parter failed the polygraph, and rr took it and passed.... makes one wonder... how long was this happening... i wonder if any of his partners knew about foul play? maybe they should expand thier investigation of RR to involve his previous partners...

Man, I rmember one post on here along time ago about how meticulous he was and how his crew laid out brush piles when there was no work blah blah blah... I even remember one post in his defense that said when a camera boat was following him he would rather lose a tournament than take the camera boat to his super secret squirrel brush piles...

I don't think this investigation will go any further than this one incident. That is the reason they need to take their time and get it right. It would be nearly impossible to revisit previous tournaments, even though he was suspected of cheating. Let's just hope the powers that are investigating do their job and come down on him with the full power of the law.

Not sure of the accuracy of the news report, but they specifically said they were investigating previous winnings

Not sure of the accuracy of the news report, but they specifically said they were investigating previous winnings I wish they could, but how would you go about proving someone cheated in a tournament a year or two ago? There was no evidence at the time because he was not caught. There is no evidence now because it is swimming around in the lake. I think trying to prove he cheated when he was not caught would solely rest on someone coming forth and confessing to helping him or RR himself admitting it, and why would he do that? I think this will be a one incident crime, even though it is likely he cheated for years.

i dont think you could ever prove that he cheated in previous events. my hope is that the judge or whoever it is that looks at this will take those other "questionable" events into account and uses them to determine what the punishment should be. i.e. he shouldnt get sentenced as this being the first time he did this!

Lol, if you look at his "adminssion" on his site, this could and will be turned around by his lawyer to be that he was sorry for the fish. After all, this is one stand up guy with a big heart, always willing to give advice to the less talented fisherfolks around him...

maybe if they do investigate some previous winnings, they could put some pressure on past tournament partners. They could provide the evidence needed to nail Robbie in exchange for immunity for themselves.

only problem is.. he knew the rules for a DQ and the talk he would receive; and instead of defending himself- he ran away. that shows a sign of guilt.

So a bank robber standing inside of a bank with a gun, pantyhose over their head and a sign that reads "gimme all yo money" gets caught before he leaves with the money.....no crime because he did not leave with money....OH...I see.
Come on guys, quit trying to find ways that he could potentially get off and think positive thoughts....like prison, no fishing license anywhere forever, etc..etc...
Reading post like that one are making me sick to my stomach. So Robby was pointing a gun???? apples and oranges my friend.

So a bank robber walks into a bank with his finger in his pocket acting like he had a gun and gets caught... Still bank robbing in my book gun or not... So bank Robber Rose had the intent whether he took the money or not.

I don't know which is worst, going to jail or being a "outcast" in the fishing community! 1ST I want to say that Robby is innocent until proven guilty. My thoughts are based on his personality---he had none in my opinion. If he is found guilty, please let the following happen. If you've ever seen HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY & you remember when they're in with the terrorist. Do you remember the "sandwich" that Big Bob is going to give them? Now lets put this in perspective. 1LB is about 11% of a 9LB fish's weight. Lets assume Robby weighs 170LBS 11% would be 18.7LBS. Hopefully the guards will make a tournament out of it. Robby keeps saying that he was a religious man. I believe that he was. The only problem is, I believe that he thought he was God & we should be praying to him.

In the fishing community, and the poker community, if you are caught cheating and the evidence is THIS overwhelming, there is no innocent til proven guilty. He has been innocent til proven guilty for years. Everyone suspected, no one knew. THIS IS THE PROVEN GUILTY in the tournament fishing world. I never lost money to the man and I am as angry as anyone. The simple fact that he left Bass Champs when they wanted to put an observer in the boat should have been a HUGE red flag. No knock on TD's at all, because you are in the profession of THINKING you are around honest people who will police themselves and have some personal integrity, but when he declined the observer, he should have been observed on EVERY tournament he entered. All it would have taken was for him to have the observer and weighed ONE of those fat 5 fish sacks when every one else was struggling. Then he would have proved his salt. Now he has proven it in the other direction. Innocent until proven guilty in court, yes. In the fishing world, not by a long shot. Michael Jackson was never convicted in court of touching kids, but would you let him watch yours... DON'T THINK SO

if he was such a christian, then "confession is good for the soul" and he would fess up to all he has done over the years, and take his rightful punishments. Of course we all know that is not gonna happen ever, he should totally be banned from fishing licences anywhere, and made to do hard time, cause this is a felony, and i agree the judge has to look at all questionable tournaments he has won, plus his partners in team tournaments need to be throuoly questioned also and made to fess up also if there was wrong doing there. sicking to think of all the people he screwed up on them, including himself

It is apparent that he did cheat--Personally I feel that is a given. How long he's been doing it remains to be seen--however the facts are what they ate and puts ALL of his enormous winnings in the suspect column.
I agree that some--one of his co-conspirators is going to have to come forward under the threat of a conviction and spill the beans. The fact of the matter is he had to be spliting the winnings with them or providing them with hush money to do what he did.
What is more than suspect is that when Bass champs got wind of the possible cheating and wanted to use camera boats and observers he quit fishing with them--if you had nothing to hide--it would not be an issue. As a matter of fact, it would be a chance to show your prowess as a super fisherman. His actions in this situation put all his winnings in suspect. From then on he fished open tourneys and fished alone in team tourneys, how strange and telling is that.
It is my sincere hope that what ever comes of this it will be swift and befitting the crime. What is sad is that he has totally destroyed his reputation, that of his family and is now an outcast in his own community and the fishing community as well.
Truly, truly sad.
