I saw a brief article on the ABA website about the BWS Championship at Dardenelle but no listing of how the first day went. Does anyone have news on how any of the Texas guys did the first day?

The lake sucked last year, and sucks even harder this year.

But I would have still gone if I had made it.

I haven't heard any results, but will look for some now. I live on Dardanelle and fish there all the time and I can tell you first hand that fishing is tough with a capital T right now. It has been this way most of the year. NO one I know has an explanation for the decline, but this lake used to fish really good.

Well, looks like it was an omen not making the cut on Rayburn. From the looks of it I think I will enjoy NASCAR at TMS this weekend a lot more than Dardenelle. Man almost 100 zeros and only one limit on the boater side. How bad does that suck?

Looks like it even sucked worse today!!

Scott Dean and Russell Lee zeroed!

If the two of them can't find a keeper the lake probably should be drained and filled in with concrete.

Dardanelle has a 15" minimum. No slot. The leader is on fish 2 days in a row. He is from Arkansas.

Scott and Russell were probably swinging for the fences on the second day. Can't blame 'em you don't get this close to the Classic and just settle for a check.

Your not going to swing for the fences when 5 more lbs will get you into the final day. There arn't going to be any 25 lb sacks turning the standings upside down.

The lake just purely sucks!

i talked to dannie last night and he was exhausted....said it is very very tough fishing but he actually caught them pretty good yesterday...his wife Amy is also fishing the co-angler side and is sitting in 76th after yesterday with just 1 fish, but they pay out money to the top 50 so she's just trying to get a few fish in the boat today and apparently drew one of the leaders on the boater side for today so she was very happy....for the record I don't think its the lake that sucks....it the nearly 2 feet of rain the area has received in the last 2 months that sucks...he said there is floating debris everywhere and it makes running the lake just about impossible....said he heard a boat running yesterday that hit something HARD but couldn't see where or what it was

The lake has been horrible for the last couple of years. Even alot of the local pro's have been admitting to that. I think during the FLW event, one of the guys was talking about how there isn't any of the birds and animals around anymore.

Sucked last year when we were there, and it sucks again this year for the guys that made it.

Dardenelle is a great lake . You just have to fish with confidence. Pick one bait and area and fish the heck out of it. I had a great vacation fishing there.

Dardenelle was definately a whip last year. My understanding is flooding a few years back and continued periods of heavy rain have killed/washed all the grass away. Local sticks will tell you dont come unless you have to because your not going to get many bites.

I thought Ray Roberts was fishing tough earlier this year. Man Dardanelle is a grind. I had found a few fish in a tiny little pocket with some dead pads. It was very shallow and they were dropping the lake. First 2 days caught 15 to 20 fish, but with the pressure and the lowering the lake they were gone day 3. I had a great time at the event and so did Amy. First year fishing BWS and am looking forward to next year.

Even though the fishing sucked and the lake was in bad shape, it is a very beautiful place to go fishing. Early in the week really had to watch out where you were running. Even a dead cow was floating down the lake. Can you imagine running into that sucker frown
