Yeah, guess why I'm asking ... next Thursday I tow the boat down to Port Isabel! Anyone have info on offshore conditions - how far out blue water is, are there shrimpboats working, etc?

Zack- ck www.ripcharts.com. 2 updates per day
the Chlorophyl chart will show you where the blue water/ current rips are
you might pm Bill Fisher. He's in Padre & runs a sportfisher
and pays close attention to those things

Well Bill, it's funny you asked ... I posted elsewhere about this, but the short version is that the weeklong plans got scuttled due to a death in the family. After time for the funeral etc, I took a co-worker to Galveston for a full day fishing nearshore & bay - got several 20# redfish and assorted other stuff. Then the past two days was at Texoma with the redheads dad fishing for stripers.

Will plan on a week trip at South Padre next year about the end of Sept to get a bit better weather & fishing conditions. Ah well, still had fun in both places.

Grass lines were only about 3-5 miles out yesterday (11-22), water was dead calm at the grass line, but couldn't find a fish to save my life. Caught a big king at one of the rigs, other than that it was a slow day.
