My fishing buddy Don and I arrived at SeaWolf Park at 7:00AM and we started to our fishing location in front of the ship, the USS STEWART on the cement bulkhead as we witnessed a gentleman from SW Houston landing a 42" Bull Red. The fishing area had only a few fishermen there when we arrived so it was easy finding a spot to fish. By 8:00AM fishermen were showing up and the flounder started biting good. There were aprox. 10-12 fishermen by 10:00 and everyone was catching flounder. The flounder were biting on and off in spurts till around 2:00PM and everyone in viewing distance was limiting out and culling for larger flounder. Most flounder caught were in the 15"-18" range with a couple going possibly 20". Bait of choice was dead shrimp and finger mullet. Mud minnows were very small and they weren't biting on them. We limited out with our 4 flounder from 15"-18 1/2". I think it was a good fishing day for all in that area and several Bull reds were being taken on the channel side. I visited a few waders near the pier who claimed the fishing was not as good in that area but around the ship and submarine the fishing was good. The big flounder aren't in yet but I feel they will be in a week or two. There were several reports the game wardens were patrolling the park more and checking cars when they left the park and this has dramatically curbed the poaching. Everyone was practicing catch and release and only keeping the legal limits on Monday. I forgot to mention most people including us caught between 6-10 legal 15"+ flounder but only kept their limit. Weather was perfect around 72 degrees and very light winds. SeaWolf park has changed their hours from 7 days/24hrs a day to 7:00AM-6:45PM.

I'm pretty sure it will be next Spring before they open 24 hrs/day again. They told me they went to their new hours because of cold weather.

If you can go this week before the rains I'll bet you have a good fishing day. I won't go on weekends again if I can help it.

Every year they open from sun up to sun down during Fall and Winter. They go back to 24/7 in Spring to Summer and early Fall.
