Man, this past saturday we killed the hybrids on braunig lake. From about 9 am till 2pm we caught keeper fish atleast one every third cast, anywhere from 2&3lb fish all the way to the largest of the day that weighed 6lb 7oz 23 1/4in, found out later that day the lake record is 24 1/2. By far the best day of hybrid fishing i have ever had. total of over 45 fish between my buddy and i, all fished were released.

I used to fish Braunig back in the 80's (when i was a kid). Glad to hear it's still producing quality fish. Thanks for the flash back!!

yeah...it was from 1990...with all the people and how aggressive them fish are i don't see that record gettin broken anytime soon lol.

Chrome Black back Rat-L-traps and Chrome Blue Back Rat-L-traps are really good to throw around the hot water outlets out there for Reds & Hybrids. Sounds like a heck of a day CONGRATS!!

Dam they didn't say it was 10lbs, that must have been a pig. The big fish of was less than an inch shy of the record, but weighed less than 7lbs, and you are definitly correct in saying that record will not be broken anytime soon, there were probably three other boats fishing around us and i dont think i saw any of them throw any fish back. That was the biggest hybrid i have seen from that lake and with as agressive as they are they just will not have a chance to get that big. We were fishing about 50 yards off the dam, all up and down following the fish.

was there any redfish mixed in?

Surprisingly not, last year when the hybrids were schooling like this, about every 5th fish would be a red. A friend of mine who was fishing close to us in another boat otld me he had fished the same area the week before and nailed a 33" red while fishing for the hybrids, and also caught a few just over 20", but out of 4 boats in the general area i didn't see a single red get boated. That is what we originally went out to fish for and ran into my friend after fishing from sunup till 9 for reds with no success.
