Went out to Tawakoni sunday looking for the blues. tried to drift but hardley any wind and couldnt get a bite. However i anchored out in a cove, threw up into some stick ups and started to catch blues 3-5lbs in about 4feet. Those bites didnt last more than hour and a half. Is it time to started anchoring off or is my best bet to drift? I might doing this whole drifting thing wrong. Ive only tried drifting three times now and ZERO fish.

What kind of set up are you using for drifting?

While drifting is always a sure bet for some fish, it really needs to be done right w/ and at the right speeds...etc.

A sure bet is to anchor up in the timber on a windblown bank and fish the trees w/ some cut shad on 5/0 circle hooks. Should be able to get some really good box fish up to 5lbs or so. A place that comes to mind is the wind blown side of Finger Point.

Finger Point was where i was able to catch those blues after giving up on drifting. I think im drifting the right way. i use a store bought drift sock or socks from academy and i rig my poles up the right way (i think). Someone posted a link with a setup awhile back and thats how i rig my poles up. I have only tried drifting 3-4 times and have been unsucceful. i understand they call it "fishing" and not "catching" for a reason. Im also new to lake tawakoni, i now live minutes from the lake. I think its a matter of learning the lake. Im off Thursday-Sunday and plan to do some serious learning of the lake. Where should i start to drift.
