hey everyone...

I finally was able to take my parents carping with me today. I had always wanted to have my dad really experience why I love carping so much, and he had an awesome time today!!! We headed down to the San Diego area, and found a great swim at a very pretty lake

here are a few pics of the lake/swim:







Managed to meet up with a local SoCal carp club forum member, Jon, and I had 3 lines in the water... all using TresFlores maize (scopex, tutti frutti, and nanshe) on the hair with method mix (oats/grits/corn meal/bread crumbs/bird seed/canned corn) and cast out a fair distance. You won't see me in any of the pics I guess since I was netting the carp for my dad, and let him have all the fun today! My mom was there as well and she enjoyed the beautiful weather and seeing my dad haul in a few~

wasn't too long until I had the first screaming run, but while I was trying to hold the pole and call for my dad (who was back at the car getting something) to come and get the pole from me... we realized it had gotten into a snag, and unfortunately, after trying to free the carp, we were unsuccessful.

Just a little while later, another great, long run and THIS time, my dad landed this beauty after several minutes.. and man, I wish I had taken video, but he was like "holy [censored], that's a huge fish" (in Korean)... hehehe. He said he had never fought/landed a fish that big.. so here it is on the mat:

His first carp weighted almost 14lbs! shows 13.99 here (his first carp and PB):



I didn't have time to show him how to hold the carp up for the pictures, so this is what he came up with on his own.. hahaha

and a little while later, we get a crazy screaming run, and my dad lands this beauty here. Jon (Socal carp club member) is also posing with my dad's second carp and new PB:

I say the 2nd carp weighed around 17.25 lbs

Too cool man! The smile on your dads face says it all, looks like a fun trip for the both of you.

Towards the end, he landed one more carp, but it was small... definitely less than 10lbs, but it fought harder than the others! sheesh!! Didn't take pics of the small one...

In the end, I think he had a memorable time, and it's awesome that he got to land a few today! I was hoping he'd land a 20+, but no takers today... I guess we gotta leave room for improvement the next time!!!

Jesse! yeah... you know it. My parents brought a ton of food... I think they really came just to eat. My fellow carper and I were definitely well fed throughout the day!

...and thanks again for all the comments everyone! was just great to see my dad have that thrill a few times! I wish that venue was a lot closer to me, otherwise, I'd be there pretty often.
