Went out the other day with my cousin. We caught 4 rat reds and 2 undersized flounder. Didn't even know those were out there. I usually fish for only gar there. It was sunny but cool temps with a lot of wind. I only had three runs on my big rod. Didn't set the first two right but got the last one. It is my new pb, just under 4'.

It was a good fight. It pulled a little drag. I had a blast catching it. I had one that put up a bigger fight but I didn't set the hook right. It doubled over my rod and pulled a lot of drag. I wish I was able to land it. It had to have been bigger that this one. Hopefully next time.

That looks like a spotted to me; nice fish, for sure!

Where are you located? Must be near the coast for the reds and flounder...

I could be wrong about it being a gator gar. There are spotted and longnose out there as well. Yes I am near the coast. Also got some small specks in the casting net in the same spot.

Here is another pic from a different angle. Is it a gator or spotted?

My mistake from that first pic. That is definitely a gator gar!

Again, nice catch!
