The fishing is starting to heat up. With the colder temps and all the new water, the big ones are starting to move in. Right now the fishing seems to be better during the day, but that can change at anytime. I was out for 4 hours this morning and caught 15 Keepers, and that was slow. Guys and gals, fishing is only $5 and there is a store with food and drinks and bait. Come on out and join us in the fun and tell Cliff that Adam sent ya. I would love to see everyone out there. We are trying to work out some how to clinics at the barge as well, like how to shoot a dock and how to effectively jig. PM me with any questions.

Thank you sir. The fish were hanging tight to the brush in there. Right as the jig hit the brush you would get slammed and I mean slammed. They were taking the jig deep in their mouths.

Tough day today out there. I only caught 10 fish from 8am till 4:30pm Big one went 2.1 pounds though. I released her to swim free and make more big crappie. Got to meet Keyboard and BarnDoor Blake. It was great to meet you guys. I promise that it is not always that slow out there. Most of the fish I caught today were on pinched head minnas fished around the edges but the big one came on a YUM bait that was sent to me by a cousin in Arkansas that is sponsered by them. I have never seen them in stores but it is a 2" swim bait in a color called patriotic. She hit like a small fish and fought like a smaller fish. I have pics posted on facebook and will try and get them transfered over to here.

For those that have something informative to add please do. If you are going to insult people please keep your comments to yourself. Just trying to let people know how the fishing at the fishing barge is.

Nice to meet you CrappieFan. Only had a few minutes and the owner of the place is a very nice guy. The place is kinda small but has big potential and looks like its in a great location. More than 5 or 6 fishermen would be kinda crowded, but he is planning a big add on. Caught 1 while I was there (about 30 mins) but I did see Crappiefans 2.1 very nice slab! You have a birdnest on the ground out there CrappieFan. I'll be back when i get a bigger window to fish it!

Yeah it has been fun to see the place grow up. I have helped Cliff out with some of the habitat. I provided 20 Christmas trees last year and another 25 to 30 will be coming this year. Cliff is a great guy and really has made a hot spot. It can get crowded but when it starts getting busy some people always leave. The only thing that does get a little annoying is the people that walk in with 4 to five poles to minnow fish then never watch their lines. I usually will still jig al around their minnows though. Not to concerned about tangling because I usually get the fish out without a problem.

Most Crappie Houses and Marinas enforce a limit of 2 rods, and I mean "enforce". I think it's wise, too many minnow rods in the water and like you say they don't watch them, spread out and take up so much room.

If Cliff is informed about the number of rods being an issue he will usually come down and say something. Most of the time its not an issuse.

Only caught 8 today but the afternoon bite is not good right now. Heard that Mr. Jiggum Jigs himself and someone else off of here were down there this morning. Mr Jiggum, that sure was a nice hawg you caught this morning and that was very nice of you to give all your fish to the kid and his dad. Oh and the kid was so excited about the jigs you gave him.

Thanks Crappie fan,
Couldn't get the boat out of my friends back yard (storage) because of the rains...
So James Adams, Mike Andrews, and Myself(Jigum), decieded to venture down to check out your honey hole... We will return...
There's definately great potential there...
Thanks for sharing your posts....
Jigum

Not a problem. As the weather gets colder and the pvc starts dropping in the next few weeks, it should really pick up. Hope to meet you soon.

Wow what a difference the clearing of the water makes. Ended today with 35 fish but only 9 keepers for me. Everyone that fished today walked away with at least 5 keepers. They were hitting real good this morning starting at 7 am then slowed down around 10. Then they came in waves. All in all a good day.
