What is the fishing like this time of year? I live 85 miles away and was wondering if it is worth the trip this time of the year.
Thanks

Not sure about the fishing this time of year--
But that trip has always been worth the drive!

I think you need to wait a few days after the rain stops. Last weekend the water was unusually brown. Usually its clear/greenish.

But the fishing is great in the winter. Search some threads on here from winter of last year and see for yourself. yaknyota has some nice threads from last winter

Well Trout Bum was right. Yesterday me and my fishing buddy went to the Brazos and put in at Hwy 16. Haven't been fishing in awhile and wanted to get out. The fishing was real slow! We only caught two small bass and one 5 lb. drum. We were using minnows and fished several good holes and they still weren't hitting them. The river is low and the water clarity is bad. Hopefully the water will clear up and the fishing will pick up in a couple of weeks.

We've never gone below the dam. Does anybody know if the fishing is any good there? Thanks.

well, i hate to hear that part, but i like the part about troutbum being right. just kiddin, sort of. it's going to be slow, probably for a while. temps are dropping, water releases will keep temps down, out look, not real good. may have to go after stripers, and sandies for the rest of the year. then stock the trout, and the stripers will get aggressive!!
