Jim and I will be there.
What we need to do is get a couple of teams together and compete as our own country- The Republic of Texas.
Seriously.

So why are peg drawn tournaments less desirable?

cuz it is a random draw versus being able to choose your own spot. Jason wants it to be like bass fishing tournaments but it never will as long as they are from the bank. Walk offs are a good alternative if you choose from pre determined swims. You have to keep in mind that stewards have to know where you are to verify fish

So why are peg drawn tournaments less desirable? Most of what Scott said. Imagine that on the morning of the Bass Masters Classic all of the entrants were told, by officials, that they were being assigned small sections of the lake to fish and they were not allowed to fish outside of those designations. Now, imagine all of the reasons that the entrants would give you as to why that is nonsesne. Those are all my reasons too. I can go on and on about this but I would need to start another thread. I dont want hijack the post.

Ahhh i understand, i like the idea of a peg drawn tournament. Bringing the fish to my area and keeping them in my area seems like a bit more of a challenge to me. I mean yea being able to go out on the lake and find the fish would increase your chances of winning, but the appealing thing about carp fishing is you dont need a boat or fancy electronics to catch big fish and compete in a tournament. Just my opinion anyway although both ways would have their advantages and disadvantages.

And if there are no fish in the area of the lake assigned?
And if there are plenty of carp in the area assigned do you really get credit for that or does everyone say, under their breath, "He just drew a good peg?"
One edge of the sword is luck and the other is none. A bad angler in a good peg can do better than he normally would. A great angler in a bad peg will do as bad as the other on his worst day.
IMO where you fish is 80% and how you fish is 20%. Unless you are able to apply a baiting technique to a swim over a very long period and eventually turn it into a good swim, which cannot be done in a tourney.

And if there are no fish in the area of the lake assigned? could not agree more, i have gone fishing with Jesse and quit a few other people, 30+ rods out over 150-200yds of bank space and not one fish over a 12 hour period. I def think location is a key factor. If there are no fish to bait in, then there are no fish to bait in.
