I'm in the market for a new crappie rod. Need help finding which lure rating size to fit my needs. I'm wanting one that is light, sensitive and has a good backbone. Price doesn't matter. Thanks!

No doubt 8ft ProAngler all around rod that will handle anything that gets on it. Customer service is unsurpassed and the price is right.

Now that I got my St.Croix,I don't think I can go back to any other rod, they are that good! If I have a guided trip, my customers use my pro anglers and bnm's, they are still a good rod and a bargain.

Hey Bigmack you think this your birthday or something? Darrell Will someone buy Mack a St.Croix for his Birthday! He needs to feel the difference! As my partner has found, I'm kinda hard headed and gotta cheap streak. Besides, like my brother used to say, I can beat ya with a house stick off the wall. (Pool shootin' days). Just give me a pink Barbie rod with a snoopy reel and I'll show ya what for.

Mack if we ever go fishin you can use my wife's St Croix and Shimano Sidestab. She will never know unless you break it. I'll buy the gas and you supply the knowledge. You will want one then. Best advice I can give you if you do not want to spend a hundred dollars is to never fish with one.

I put in an order for the 7'6 st croix legend tournament rod earlier today. Should be in sometime this week. It was only $220 shipped.
I also have a 6'6 g loomis glx rod that I use to shoot the docks with. Awesome rod also!

I appreciate it BC1, I know they are fine rods but $230 is just plain nuts to me for crappie fishin'. I have a BPS Woo Daves $100 rod for my sigle line jiggin' and 2 BPS IM8 Rods that are very comfortable and sensitive. My buddy Joe has landed a 7 & 10# bass with his 8ft PA with no problem at all. As Mike said the other day during the TSCC, when your in 20+mph wind riding the waves sensitivity goes out the window. he didn't even bring them along during that tourny. Let's hit the lakes if they don't close 'em down again. We may have to go to Amarillo to find a dry lake to fish in.

Mack my St.Croix's were the $100 rod. I had been spending $20 on Berkley Cherrywoods. They are okay but my gosh these are awesome. I just found out about a trick rigging these that will make them even more productive. I ordered everything today. Thanks Guy!

As good as the St. Croix rods are and they are good the Dobyns rods are better and for the same money. I have used both and Dobyns is my choice. I have a 6'8" @ a 7' in their drop shot spinning rods both with Shimano Symetre 750 reels. IMHO the ultimate setup. I still have a bunch of Pro Anglers for spider riggin, but for vetical jigging it's the Dobyns.

Steve Show me where I can buy a Dobyns for $100....the Premiers that everyone (including me) likes are $100. The Legend Tournaments are a different story though. I had a pair of the Dobyns Champion drop shot rods, they are crazy sensitive. Sold them to buy my Legend Tournaments...

you didnt say what style of fishing so i would assume jig fishing vertical. i would call some buddies or ask tff members to test drive a few rods. if your close to lavon you can try out my selection.pro angler,b&m,wally, phlueger. everybody is different and will like something different. try jigging with the line in your hand. you can use a broom stick and catch more fish. you can feel any limb ,stick, rock, minnow seizure better in the line then you will in any pole. if you practice you will learn all kinds of new techniques and not set hooks on tree limbs.LOL. this time of year the walmarts, targets, toys r us have empty shelves with that one toy of the year that everybody is buying up becuase its the thing to do. to me that is the st croix rod. im not knocking the rod just dont buy the hype, buy the rod.if its best for you. good luck on your search and your are welcome to test drive any of the crappie poles i own if your in the lavon area.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the St Croix is not for everyone. Some like broom stiks and some like buggy whips, and some like a USA made, professionally designed and manufactured fishing rod. Whatever brand rod anyone gets, I hope that you are happy with it.
