I've caught 2, my buddy caught one fishing with me, and several over the years. The 3 I personally have seen came from White River, and he's caught a fair # out of Meredith and Greenbelt.

Used to catch some in OC Fisher (aka North Concho) near San Angelo. They were stocked there back in the 70's and got up to about 3-4 lbs in size. Good fighters and great eating. Never reproduced and with the lake going down think they were fished/died out. Never heard of anyone catching them last few years I was back there.

Fellows, here is the story on North Texas Walleye from TPWD a few years ago. Walleye have been stocked in several Texas lakes back in the late 70's and most of those survived to some extent. However the water temp does not get cool enough in winter time for them to do their thing, so no spawn therefore they did not survive. there is a few lakes that may be the exception including the West Texas waters such as Meredith, which is known for its Walleye. My reason for checking on them was I fished for walleye in Nebraska, before moving down here and they are a well sought after fish for the quality eating. But I have found none so fare where I have fished. You can find em in Oklahoma in Lakes such as Fort Cobb and Altus and most all lakes north of there, but very rare in North Texas. But with the invention of the Hybrid Striper, I have quit worrying about the Walleye fishing.

I saw my Dad Catch one in Bridgeport once and Eagle Mountain once when I was a kid. He died in 1985 so it was over 24 years ago when they were caught. Probably 82-83

Here is some stocking information. 2009= Wheeler branch reservoir= 182,512 fry 2008= 570, 280 fry 2007 New Ballenger= 705 fingerling White river reservoir= 2,145,000 fry 2006= Greenbelt=41,200 fry New Ballinger=15,206 2005= New Ballinger= 15,745 Palo Duro Reservoir= 6,080 White River Reservoir= 2,385,745. These were stocked in the last several years, with White River Reservoir probably being your best bet on Walley with a whopping 2,500,000 walley and Palo Duro reservoir had over 3,500,000 fry stocked.

TPWD is doing a little experiment there.WR has become over run with stunted (4-6")crappie the last few years. They are hoping the walley's will clear out a bunch of them !!

I never caught one in Texas but low Oklahoma caught one around 7 or so pounds. I almost made the mistake of lipping it but still ended up having the thing hurt me by throwing it in the kayak.

not Texas, I know, but Arkansas is covered in 'em. Walleyes, saugers, and saugeyes in just about every lake (rivers, too!) north of Little Rock. caught 'em to 4 lbs. could be me, but I always caught 'em while bass fishing, & they seemed to love a tx-rigged, 6" culprit in red shad. go figure ...... Oh and there's always that All-Tackle World Record that came from Greer's Ferry, which is about 6 hrs from DFW http://arkansasroadstories.com/nature/walleye.html

If you hook one , don't lip it. When Meridith was filled in 1965, they kept the walleye season closed for a few years, They were everywhere. I think everyone and his brother in Amarillo bought a boat in the late '60s. Mo

Caught 2 in Grapevine back in the early to mid 70's while fishing for sandbass. Caught 1 on a tail spinner and 1 on a slab. Both were about 15" long.
Of course, back in the day, Grapevine had some really nice hybrid fishing too but that's long gone as well.
