They stocked some in Conroe back in the '70's but I haven't heard of any being caught there in many years.

I caught one of those late 70 ones myself out of Conroe. Middle of the summer. Pretty big fish seemed to be on it's last few days. It was in pretty bad shape.

2009= Wheeler branch reservoir= 182,512 fry

2007 New Ballenger= 705 fingerling
White river reservoir= 2,145,000 fry
2006= Greenbelt=41,200 fry
New Ballinger=15,206
2005= New Ballinger= 15,745

TPWD is doing a little experiment there.WR has become over run with stunted (4-6")crappie the last few years.They are hoping the walley's will clear out a bunch of them !!

Yep. Caught and released one at Fort Phantom. I'd say '84, or '85.

I never caught one in Texas but low Oklahoma caught one around 7 or so pounds. I almost made the mistake of lipping it but still ended up having the thing hurt me by throwing it in the kayak.

I caught one in Granger Lake in 1985. It was 3 pounds and I have pictures of it. Caught it on a slab spoon.

not Texas, I know, but Arkansas is covered in 'em.
Walleyes, saugers, and saugeyes in just about every lake (rivers, too!)
north of Little Rock. caught 'em to 4 lbs. could be me, but I always caught 'em while bass fishing, & they seemed to love a
tx-rigged, 6" culprit in red shad. go figure hmmm

...... Oh and there's always that All-Tackle World Record
that came from Greer's Ferry, which is about 6 hrs from DFW

If you hook one , don't lip it. smile
When Meridith was filled in 1965, they kept the walleye season
closed for a few years, They were everywhere. I think
everyone and his brother in Amarillo bought a boat in the late
'60s.

Caught 2 in Grapevine back in the early to mid 70's while fishing for sandbass. Caught 1 on a tail spinner and 1 on a slab. Both were about 15" long.

Of course, back in the day, Grapevine had some really nice hybrid fishing too but that's long gone as well.

I caught a Chain Pickeral in Possum Kindom in the 70's, but I caught a walleye in Lake Waurika in 2006. Sure was good.

none in texas, but I have caught many back home in Iowa growing up. We go to canada every year and I will tell you I helped net a 9lb wally for my buddy. Try fighting that fish on 6lb line. That was awesome to see...

Caught one in Belton about 1980. They were stocked sometimes in the 70's. I have had two different people tell me about catching what they thought were baby walleyes in cast nets,but I don't think so.

In the mid '70's while stationed at Ft. Hood I caught a couple from Lk Belton-at that time I was told one of them was a lake record at about 3 1/2 lbs.
