We camp and fish out of Spivey Crossing RV Park. It is approximately 6 miles below Dick's Place.

The GPS co-ords to the front gate are N31 47.652 W97 18.245

From what I've heard the actual crossing itself is closed off to the public. I think there's some kind of rock operation right near there. You'd have to access the crossing by putting in at Dicks and paddle downstream to it. Or maybe from the RV park that TCF mentioned.I've heard Spivey crossing is a good place to hunt arrowheads and camp. I can't guarantee the accuracy of any of this.
I wonder if that RV park allows tent camping.
Someday I plan to put in at the dam and float down to Gholson RV Park (Ridells Camp) and overnite at Spivey Crossing. It's about a 21 mile trip and the crossing is about halfway. It's on a long list of future trips. So many rivers, so little time (and money!)

Thanks Rev.
That's a good price. I camped at a place downstream from there that charged $20 a nite. For tent camping. But it was right on the river and you had access to showers and a laundromat if you needed it.

ok I now am positive where spivey crossing is. I've been down to the gate before, but I saw the gate & thought well you cant cross the river surely this isnt the way to the crossing. I built some fence across the county road at the end of fm1304 across from windell mcpherson's place (where their excavating sand). I don't believe the crossing was on windell's place. I'm related to him & I never heard anything about it. But anyway's how do you go about setting up a overnight stay @ spivey?

Hey Big White - been there done that - it is a long haul to get home, though I've watched a guy walk the whole 2 miles when the flow was low.

I dread to think about doing a paddle back when the generator is running, hence my #4130005 post, looking for new access.

Where is the thread with posts about something 6 miles down.

I got to do some thread reviews.

yea looking at that stretch from dick's to the bend on google it appears the water is no more than 2ft, or rock/gravel bars mixture with inches of water.i know most guy's are going to cuss me, but i'm wanting to get a airboat where I can more esily go to my fishn spots faster & with ease. like that spot we are dicussing

Hey Big WD

Call Richard and as for Andy Mauro - he'll tell you Andy's correct last name, and his phone # and then you can schedule a guided trip in Andy's AIR BOAT, stored at Out Back Canoe Rental.

I mean - if you're gonna be hated - hire a good guide and be hated catchin the Sheehezies out of the local big bass selection.

Or ask for Andy's AirBoat 'n Bream for 'CityBoys, Children and Geriactrics' package so's we can laugh at you between the hatings. Just say "I want the CBCG trip please sir" And there will be a sweet little o cane pole a waiting, next to the softie ear muffs and batman goggles.

Hey J B J - I went to Out Post (at the 2114 crossing ) today - we forego the whole 8 mile trip from the dam as it gets long and tedious, BUT with all the day time generating done recently - it is a much faster float.

Fun in the A M, we caught some fat bass and played the gar as long as they'd hold on. The thick grass is getting thinned out.

I don't like the river when it is running hard. But they're letting out lots of water, daily, it rose about 3 ft starting at 1 pm. We still caught fish, but I like the thinner slack water better.

This site has the best flow info, posted earlier in another thread by SexyCarpenter
