Got back late last night.

The day started out very slow with just one carp and a bunch of cats. The buffs moved in and we found ourselves very busy with the rods. Scott had a weird take and played what turned out to be a very large grass carp, luckily for the fish it came off and the Louisville Slugger was not required.

The carp moved in eventually and for about 3 hrs the lake went absolutely crazy, I was getting hits on the new method mix after about 30 seconds of it being in the water. All my fish came to flavor infused maize in either Scopex or Tutti;
Fished with a method feeder. I managed 2 carp over 20 lbs and also a Buff around 23 lbs.

We had a great trip and enjoyed some wonderful scenery!

That grasser was very lucky, I almost had amur tacos for lunch today. 2 Amur in 2 days means something happened to the lake that there are more grassers in there. The recent flooding must have brought them in from maybe a golf course or something.
I didn't do as well as Richard but still managed a trio of kitties, a 8# common and a 8# buff. We had a double going of two possible 20#s but I lost the one I was playing to a reed bed on the margin. Richards 2 biggest carp were 21-6 and 21-4 and the buff was around 23.

oh yeah, and Richard caught maybe the fastest buff I have ever seen. this little guy was going sideways so fast he was leaving the water. I told richard that the buff that was about 13# fought just like an 8# carp which is pretty good

if they are blue they are mine, it was dark and so much debris from the flooding that it was hard to make sure I had everything

richard i saved them for you .next time i see you i will get them back to you .so i went back to the dead swim this morning and caught 3 buffs and 5 carp .all my bites were the first hour and a half after getting there (930am) .i had 2 mid teens and one 18 and 2 smaller carp and the buffs were 4,7, and 9 lbs . heres the pictures of the carp ..thanks ralf for the camera-net job . i had you busy for awhile lol

the first two were doubles lol i was unhooking the first when the second one ran

I never realized we had a lake in the metroplex where 20's were that numerous.

richard thats probably because the local tourny promoters schedule the annual w/r tourny in mid summer when fish are almost non active .

not true, last years tourney was on 10-25 and hardly anyone caught

true but that was an all nighterthere the bite is 100 percent better in the day

and the water temps were warm still
how bout doing one in mid december ? it would be worth a shot... this january was the best month of 09 for me . it would be great to get everyone together to see what is really in there ...sorry richard the "stick game" might not work then lol

actually Jesse, it was during the day, the all nighter wasn't until this past summer. Winter time fishing is slower but the average size fish goes up. Plus Richard caught those 20's at night

I'd like to see a daytime tourny sometime during the winter. that lake is a hit or miss. just cuz Richard got those at night doesent mean anything. iv fished there all night before and blanked.

it all about being at the right place at the right time . all i can do is share what i know from past experiences and i have a alot friends that fish there and get catch reports often . richard may have caught 2 twenty plus fish but what did you catch that outing sitting a few feet from ? see what i mean? lets do what cris recommended and have fun

I didn't do as well as Richard but I caught fish and hooked into a 20#+ grasser that thought it was a tarpon. There is more to it than luck...............

You'd never know, huh Chris? If someone didn't tell you were to fish you wouldn't even have the fish you have. I caught my 30 in a swim that I explored myself. Keep on baiting and waiting, you'll get a 30 one day.......

you sound pretty confident on the next 20 from w/r richard . if all that stuff you wrote about finding the right location you are almost garanteed a 20 from w/r this weekend . please be sure to post up a picture of it . then i will personally to you . but if you dont all that stuff you wrote wont mean a thing .

ps im working saturday but can bring your pliers after work or i will be free sunday to do so . let me know

oh and dont forget to take scott to catch a grasser since they are so "abundant there "
