Austin Canoe & Kayak is hosting its second annual ACK Fishing Challenge. It will be held at Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake) this year in Austin on October 25, 2009. There will be a Competitive division and an amateur division this year. The difference will be the Competitive division will kick off very early and be strictly bass and the amateur division will kick off a few hours later and be an any fish challenge. We are putting together a ridiculous list of prizes. There will be cash and gear for the top 3 in each challenge as well as Biggest Bass, Smallest Bass, Biggest Perch, Smallest Perch, Biggest Catfish and several other fun stuff I think you get the idea nobody is leaving empty handed. For this event we will meet in a central location most likely the put in near the Holiday Inn off 35 and you're free to fish anywhere on the lake you like. We have reserved the Rock Garden Area in Zilker Park for the closing ceremonies. Food and drinks will be provided at the event.

I've learned a lot about tournaments since last year and I can't wait to get it on again this year.

We will be having Late Registration the day of the Challenge for anyone who was unable to sign up in advance. We will accept Cash or Check(made payable to Austin Canoe & Kayak) only. Cost of the Competitive Division is $27.06 and cost of the Amateur Division is $21.65. Late registration will take place for the Competitive Division from 7am - 8am. Late registration for the Amateur Division will take place from 8am - 9am.

We want to thank everyone that was able to make it out for our 2nd Annual ACK Fishing Challenge. Some really nice fish were caught, great stories were told afterwards, everyone got their fill of pizza and drinks, and at the end of the day whether they made the top of the leader board or not everyone walked away with some great prizes.

This years top winners were 1st- Regan Vega, 2nd- Troy Lawson, 3rd- Steve Garcia, Biggest Bass- Steve Garcia. The Amateur division winner was Ivan Dorflinger.


We look forward to putting on more tournaments like this in the future and hope that everyone who competed is able to come back next year for and even bigger and better event.
