We stayed at Oso Blanco this past weekend.
Not too bad of a place.
They have a boat ramp there on site that you can launch from.

The weather was pretty erratic for us, wind blew from every direction on the compass, and we had clouds, rain, bluebird skies, it was challengin to say the least.

30 miles or so. It is close to the Zapata county ramp.

You can stay at Lakefront, which also has a launch ramp into the Veleno or at Beacon (they also have a launch ramp) which is at the north end of the lake at the mouth of the Salado. Both are great places to stay.

I like Falcon Heights near the dam. Cheap, clean, good parking, and a cool pavilion/cooking area to hang out.

For your tournament Falcon Heights (956) 848-5229. Which happens to be the best place to stay at Falcon. Bring your own food and BBQ in their covered kitchen.

The accommodation's are pretty meager, you get a room with 2 beds a small table, a bathroom, a vanity, all tile floor, and a COLD AC. You will not have a television in your room. You get what you pay for, and that was fine with me, I personally went there to fish so I could care less about watching TV. Its a good time in the evenings when all the fisherman get off the water, its kind of its own little city. Falcon Heights will get my business when I am down there and planning on fishing that end of the lake.
