Is 3 days enough time to float from hwy 16 to Rochelles with adequate fishing time?

If your fishing properly, 3 days is just about right.

Yeah, we are looking at getting started on Friday morning and trying to be done Sunday afternoon, but dont want to find ourselves rushed since we tend to fish pretty thoroughly.

thanks

If you have wind in your face, you will have a tough time getting in some decent fishing time and getting there in the afternoon. You might cut it close.

If you are drifting/paddling the way down and only stopping periodically to fish, then you'll be there just in time.

Last time we paddled 10 miles on the last day and didn't get to fish much.

At half way there is a steel dock on the left you cant miss it.
Fishy Biz is right, we were on the same trip, the paddling against the wind while trying to make time didn’t allow for much fishing.
I hope the wind is light for you, it is a fun trip and well worth the effort.

well, we will have a trolling motor to help with the pace a little, plus we have fished there before...just not all the way down to Rochelles...just the first 4-5 miles from Hwy 16

Landmarks: (mileage is approximate, but purty dang close)
-3 miles river left Garland Creek
-8 miles river right Ioni Creek, just past here is a class 1 rapid,a fast little wave train. About a mile before here is a good camping spot on river right.
-10 miles the big dock on river left, can't miss it. Just past here the river splits around a long island(at high water).Take the right channel. This island is an excellent camping spot.
-12 miles weird looking white house on bluff, river left. You'll probably be fighting headwinds here. Just past here is a low island, keep going better campsites downstream. Take left channel.
-13.5 miles A series of big stand alone rocks just off the right bank. Just downstream is a big long high island. Lots of trees and firewood and some nice views on the downstream end of the Island.
-18.5 miles- small "S" rapid. Watch out for the pipe sticking out of the bank on left.
These should be pretty accurate. If not I'm sure someone here will set it straight. I don't use a GPS. I print out a topo map and take my compass. Not to keep from getting lost, just to keep track of landmarks and mileage. It's kind of fun.
check out this trip report

Rochelles will furnish you a paper map. It might get wet, so be careful with it.

The river changes with every flood, but here are the landmarks that I remember, which are pretty close to roadtrips.

3 miles: garland creek, on river left, and the mouth of the creek is a cut in a rock bank.
3.5 miles: Shut-in crossing
6 miles: At the pool below a rapid there is a nice high gravel campsite on river left, and a big bolder on river right. On the bank side of that bolder is a beaver's dam.
8 miles: Ioni creek
8.5 miles: this is the steel dock and "personal" boat ramp
9-10 miles: the long island mentioned above. The end of this island is my personal favorite campsite. Fishing isn't that good though, as the water is pretty shallow.
10 miles: crawford hollow.
10-12 miles: very limited camping. White house on river left cliff.
13 miles: 4 house sized boulders on river right, high gravel camping on river left.
13.5 miles: eagle creek.
14: Worth Ranch boy scout camp

If you enjoy catching carp or largemouths, this is prime time.

I see they released water recently. This beaver dam might be gone.

Schoolhouse

End of 9-10 mile island, crawford hollow on river right.

white house

house sized rocks

immediately after house sized rocks.

Be prepared.

Probably dragging a fully loaded yak through shallow rocks, but I am not really sure.
