Don't wait till it is shoulder to shoulder type fishing. That is the best time to fish. You have no room to cast and all you can do is walk around try to find a hole that will hold fish ... lol It is always an adventure going fishing for flounder down there every year.

Went Tuesday morning near the ferry docks on the island side. High tide was at 3AM. Didn't get there til about 7. Caught 1 flounder around 9am and stayed til 11. Water isn't cold enough I guess.

I am headed out to pelican island tonight, I am going try and catch the first two hours of dropping tide around 10 ... Post tomorrow let you all know how it went.
By the way, what do you all fish with. Have any of you tried the new GULP bait ... that is the only thing they seem to bite for me well that paired with Live mud Minnow. The Sea Assasins, the Hoggies, the Floudner Pounders. They are biting nothing else. Just wondering thanks.

True Texan - Right now we been catching them on 4" Gulp mullets. I have seen other out there using live finger mullets and did not get as many hit.
Does flounder bite at night too, in the dark or where are lights in the water??????????????

In the night the flounder bite better under light. Before hurricane Ike, I heard SLP pier was the best place to go fishing at night. Since that pier is no longer existed, where can we go to fish where there are lights. Most of the pier on Seawall are also gone.

Well, I caught 2 flounder right before nightfall then some person on a cart came yelling at me telling me I can't be in the water after dark. They must have lost thier minds telling me I can't fish a certain place; however, I had parked on thier land and lord knows what they could have done with my car or to me when I walked back up to my car if I would not have gotten out. Next time I will be parking down the road a bit and walking to my fishing spot like I have seen many do .. screw paying them thier 12.00; Anyhow other than that nothing, I went out to the pier and spent more time getting reeled in by another fisherman than fishing. Was sickening. Truly. I did however see a few Bull Reds be pulled in, they were catching them on Cut Sand Trout and Finger Mullet. I caught the Flounder on Mud Minnows and a (New penny) Gulp .. Minnow (NOT THE SHRIMP) Good luck in finding them .... Academy is almost your only bet.

Well, it was not all it was cracked up to be, I caught about 6 flounder on saturday morning but only two of them were keepers and one was barely 15 so I ended up only keeping the 18 inch one I caught. O well, maybe it will get colder soon. Anyone else having any luck anywhere else ?
I did see quite a few more people out there fishing and one 25 inch NICE saddleback caught as well as a few others. But, nothing huge.

Like everyone is saying "not cold enough yet".
I went to Sea Wolf Park again last Friday the 23rd (against my own advice) and several keeper flounder are being caught and even a few nice ones. If I were you I would just keep after them and when the cold comes it will even get better.

I have used a few different kind of GULP baits. The ones that seemed to work the best were the New Penny and there there was another one that I couldn't find anywhere other than Academy, it was Blue and Silver almost looked like the Mud Minnows. And the bigger the mud minnows the better it seems. And make sure not to get the shrimp GULPS I have been getting the POGS and they have worked much better than the Red and White tailed Hoggies. That I was taught to fish with.

I caught a real nice flounder last Sunday near Sportsman Road. I prefer flounder myself. Caught it on piggy perch. Keeping only two in Nov is a tough. But we do what that make us do, right?

There are going to be more Game Warden around the fishing hole in the month on November than you see all year long. 2 weeks ago we got check by Game Warden twice in one Sunday. Maybe we got black hair. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder
