All the time Ive been tying, I have only used a ball/round head jig. After seeing all the fine work you folks have shown with the minnow shape,I finally joined the ranks !!! Also wanted to play with some of the darter heads too .

Got some minnow in 1/8 th and 1/16 th. Sure wish I had ordered the 1/8 with a # 2 hook.Doesnt leave much hook on a #4.

Havent got to tie much with them yet, butI think Im going to like them and the darter looks to be very promising !!

They look great! Yes, I get mine poured with a #2 hook in the 1/8oz head. Last swap mine were minnow head and swap#6 I will be using minnow heads too. I have been using them and think they look good. Don't know if the Crappie like them better or not. The wind and family illness has kept me off the water too much in the last month to find out. When I have had the opportunity to use them I brought home plenty of Crappie. However, in reality it probably makes no difference to the Crappie.

Roger,

Great looking! The only jig I tie for myself with deer hair is the shad dart. No body, just the hair. I used to buy them from Cabelas before I started tying my own. They are hands down one of the best fish catching jigs out there.

Hey Rad, where did you get those collarless minner head jigs? Do you have a mold? And, if'n ya do have a mold, where did ya get it. I can't find any minner head or aspirin head molds without a collar. It's a big pain in the posterior to cut off them collars!

Don't know where Rad gets his but I get mine from Grandpa Bob's Custom Jigs, his link is in my signature. Good prices, great customer service and fast shipping. They are made of clean lead, and do not have a lot of mold places on them. I like them very smooth without bumps on the heads or big seam lines, then I have to file them off cause I don't like my cute little heads to look funny after I go to all the trouble to paint and tie.

Sand Man...The time for Jig Swap #7 will be after we finish Swap #6 currently in progress, deadline for mailing is 11/17/09, then the next Swapmeister will announce their swap dates. You can watch the Jig Tying section for details. You can't buy jigs from the Swaps but you are always free to contact any tyer to see if they have jigs for sale.

I have been getting some of that New Age Chenille and it's great. I like the fluffier chenilles and with sparkles like it has.
