If the mods want to move this to the classified section, so be it. I am just trying to let as many TFF'ers as possible know about this situation.

The "Choke Canyon" of the North is now going to allow chartered groups to fish.

Guys, I get nothing for this other than the excitement of letting you know all the details.

There is a private lake in OK. (about a 2 hr. drive from Ft. Worth) that I have been lucky enough to fish on about 6 different occasions. The fellow I fish with is the nephew of the owner.

We have fished in the spring, summer, fall and winter. The worst day the two of us have had is 26 fish boated but in that 26 was and 8 and 2-7's.

We just fished here again about 2 weeks ago and maybe some of you saw my post about our results. We boated 52 fish and my buddy had a new PB of 7.25 lbs. We hooked but did not boat at least another 12-15 fish. Of the fish we boated I would estimate that at least 15 were between 4-6 lbs. The lake record is 13.5 lbs. Now I think you can see why we call this the "Choke Canyon" of the North.

The lake is 77 acres with timber in 5-6 different spots, lots of hydrilla and a deeper part of the lake that is open for deep cranks, etc.

Here are the details: 1.

This is a well managed lake and the owner and his son want to keep it that way. Therefore, they will only offer 1 trip for 1 day/week. They are doing this so as to not over fish the lake and turn the fish off.

2. Chartered groups will be no less than 4 persons and no more than 6.

3. You will arrive at the lake and stay at the lodge which is about 100' from the lake.

4. Your arrival time will be after 6 p.m. Snacks will be available that evening and then a full breakfast plus a lunch will be furnished the next day.

5. 16' metal boats will be furnished with trolling motors. Remember, this is a 77 acre lake so it is only about 1/5 mile x 1/5 mile and this style boat and motor is all that is needed and allowed.

6. Alcohol is BYOB and you will be responsible for any damages should you get a " little overzealous".

7. Since this is a one day trip, if, after you book your trip, you see the weather is going to be bad, you can contact the owner within 48 hours and reschedule for another time. If however, you arrive at the lake and the weather is good but then turns bad the next day, you will just have to tough it out and make the best of it.

8. The cost is $250/man cash which is cheaper that any guided trip I know of and your probability of having a great day of fishing is a lot better than most other lakes.

9. Because of the size of the lake, you will not need a guide. Besides, I've never found a spot on this lake that didn't yield fish any way.

10. Here is a unique thing. If you live in TX and are 64 or older, you do not have to buy an OK. fishing license. If you are younger, you can purchase a 5 day license for $23.50. Just google OK. fishing regulations for more info.

I'm going to be very jealous of trips I miss out on but I will try to go as often as possible as I've never ever been on any other lake that is as good as this. My best 5 fish stringer on this lake, and yes, they were all caught on one trip was 33 lbs.

In the past, my buddy has caught most of his fish on a white spinnerbait and more recently some baby rattlesnakes. I have been successful with rattlesnakes, top water flukes, spro frogs, bull ribbitts and in the colder months, both of us have used some flat series rapala's with good results.

I won't be going on any of these trips in the near future as my wife is having a surgery and I will be taking care of her for some time.

For the time being then, if you are interested, you can send questions to me which I'll try to answer or you can please direct your inquires to:

Good luck although I don't think you'll need it.
