stop by an acadamy and get you a map. i have one from Fish -n- Mapco, cost 10 bucks , has fishing spots marked and time of year that fish bite there and gps cordinates too, been a big help to usAlso will show Marinas , boat ramps and state parks that are on Conroe.Be prepared to do alot of offshore strucktue fishing ,not much in the way of cover, unless you want to go to the jungles and fish timber

Boat Docks this time of year, and fish them thoroughly.

Went yesterday for a couple hrs, the shad were stacking up thick on the main lake point boat docks. I had pretty good success with 3/8oz spinnerbaits wh/ch. The docks that had the better fish had 4-5' of water under them, tried jigs and plastics but no luck. I fished mid lake areas, I would suggest the map as mentioned before and find the deepest water near shore line docks on the points. The farther I went back in the coves the less bait and no bites. Hope this helps!
