I was wondering if there were any bank fishing spots near the Fairfield lake dam? Any placed accessable by car or foot.

Fairfield dam is not only small and unreachable by civilians such as us...but completely pointless to fish below..its nothing but a mudhole and a trickle...try fishing the points at the mouths of the two main creek arms...cast to the outside of the hydrilla ring so your bait can be presented on the sand bottom...and hold on!

no you cannot be on the dam at all...the lake has hydrilla on the edge that extends out to deeper water...if you get weeds like everytime you need to cast farther to the outside of the weeds where the sand is...the fish run in this trough...there are really only a couple of obvious bank fishing spots on the eastern side..a point just north of the south ramp and the bankline at the campground... TXU owns most of the western side...better to have a boat..but fish can be and are caught from the bank.

Only by using a boat can you drive over the dam!

The dam is posted off limits in a lot of places. Besides there isn't ever any water flowing over the spillway to be worth accessing below the dam.

There are some maps that contend country roads can get you near the dam base. Years ago I tried to drive north or east past the power station, that road had a "do not enter" and gate across what my particular map claimed was a county road.

There is a primitive camping area on the south west side. I have yet to see a human on shore using that area. I would think you could branch off the trail or road leading to it to come down to water front of the entire Little Brown Cove shoreline. This is pristine wilderness with plenty of biting critters, especially at the waters edge. Most of this shoreline is covered by lilly pads. The camping zone has a buoyed off swimming area in a small cove. It would give you access to a point with some grass around it, but I suspect it would be one H of a hike from the nearest road bed. The road leading to it starts at the park gate, and starts as a dirt road.

The whole north end of the main camping peninsula and north boat ramp is on can be partly or wholly accessed by walking the nature trail. A lot of that shoreline has thick reed standing between the trail and waters edge. Again plenty of biting critters, especially at the waters edge. The park is known to have rattlers, copperhead, and Water Moc. snakes, and scorpions protect yourself accordingly.

Otherwise speak some spanish or vietnamese and follow that mob.

First of all I'd like to thankyou for your help thus far. I've take note of all you've said.

Last time I was there, I was looking for the fishing pier that was "supposed" to be there. I did not see such a pier. I know where it's supposed to be, but there was nothing there. Do you know if the pier is still exhistant and where it might be exactly?

haha. That's what I would do normally, but could not see any of them around.

All the old wood piers became unsafe and were torn down over the last few years. There are two boat ramp floating piers to be built and probably both will be finished by March or April.

There is a floating fishing pier somewhere in the plans, but based upon how fast they got after the ramp/pier situation you might get an Social Security check before it gets built. I have not seen money allocated for it yet.

The old fish pier was put out over extremely shallow water and was a waste of good money. A fall from its deck would have been more dangerous than the water depth you could fall into.
