Yesterday the wife and i went fishing at Alvarado and got skunked, but we had fun doing it. Got a question for ya. At the east end of the lake there is some tall grass sticking out of the water. Its blades are bigger around than a pencil and it reaches about 3-4ft up out of the water. I could see fish blowing up the surface back in this grass but couldnt get back in there so i tried flipping a green pumkin t-rigged craw type bait back in there but kept getting hung up way more than successfulling making a good flip. Is this the right type of bait to be flipping back in tall grass like that?

There was a tourney there yesterday and we had a tough time. We caught 2 short fish and it was pretty tough down the line.

We heard and saw a little feeding action but it was always tucked away in the brush that we couldn't get to.

The bar pressure was high, bluebird skies, and fishing pressure all played into a slow day I think.

I saw some action in a cove on the south east end in 1ft of water that was so far in that i couldnt get to. That was my second time to fish the lake. The first time was when the first cold front came throught 3 weeks ago and it was crappy outside, misting and temp drop the day before. I saw some guys at there trucks talking about the fish they had caught about sun down. You were prolly over there with them. I was the guy what had the bass tracker loading while yall were talking as a group. My wife was sitting in the boat while i was backing down the trailer.

yea, I was the one that pulled my partners boat out and was basically in your way as you were coming out.

ha, sorry. It gets cramped down there quick.

That was my first go on that lake...we had a tough time. 2 fish, about 13" each. I love to get out and fish though.
