Well I thought I would do something good for the lawn and apply a Winterizer. I have now Lesson #867 to owning a house - you can screw up something as simple as pushing a speader around.

Now that I look back doing it, I realize why I have large streaks throughout the yard. My yard is a giant hill, and I went parallel with the hill, rather than perpendicular, so all the Winterizer shifted to one side of the bucket.

Anyways, what would you gurus suggest to remedy the problem in the spring? I could use a rotary spreader, but I know there is probably some trick to those as well.

by the way, this happened weeks ago, I just haven't posted about it. No I did not just put down Winterizer.

I don't recommend a drop spreader and always use a broadcast with not problems. Just follow the directions on the bag on spacing and you won't have streaks.

Even on the slant, the broadcast/rotary should be okay. You will just have to watch how far it throws on the uphill side vs the downhill and adjust your row width accordingly.

I wouldn't worry about trying to fix it. It will normalize itself pretty quick once it starts growing again.

I always checker board my lawn when putting out fertilizer or pre-emergent. Reduce the setting as recommended and go both directions for complete coverage without streaks.

When I was in school we used a drop spreader to overseed a local rivals football field with our schools letters. As soon as the bermuda started to turn brown the rye grass started to show our high schools letters. Priceless. Did the same with fertilizer in the spring. They never could figure it out until we confessed.
