I can't wait to get some more crappie this year. Only have gotten off a roadrunner in a friends private pond.

Caught sandies on every cast for 2 hours in a creek November 15th last year... all small males though.

when the water temp is around 58 or below is when i usually hit the creeks. water at 50 to 54 degrees is definitely fishy.

Caught a crappie out of a creek by Lewisville yesterday. Had some minnows left over from the lake so I tried the creek right next to my place. Nice eatin size, but only got the one.

I would think that the crappie should be filling the creeks up soon! They might go deep again before Spring, but many will stay in the creeks.

Drove out to Denton creek at 377 last Monday and the water was higher than I've seen it in years. Where we were wadding across this past spring you would have to swim against a pretty swift current.

Drove by the creek yesterday and the water is still pretty murky/dirty . And the flow was still fast. I'll give it about another 2 or 3 weeks. Hopefully the rain stops and the creeks get to settle down..... Then it'll be on!!

All this rain we are getting is surely going to stack the crappie up in my honey hole!

Now I just need it to stop raining for a couple of weeks lol

I may know where your honey hole is (East of the bridge at the corner?). Too deep right now.

If it rains like this throughout the winter than the sandbass run is gonna be crazy

I was just wondering, how much does rain affect bank fishing during the fall/winter? Also I thought crappie and sandbass only
went up the creek during spring.

crappie follow the shad up the creeks in the winter. the creeks are warmer due to they are shallower and heat up faster. sandies dont start the run till February. you will catch a few scouts (males) all year in he creeks..... but the crappie are the ones to target in the creeks around thanksgiving.
