I bet its good for a belly ache! Cant wait to see the replys to this. Back around labor day I think, a guy had posted some pics of decent cats caught at Party Cove on hot dogs. I have tried to fish with them when I was younger, the problem I had was my buddies kept eating all the bait!

Too much to mess with. Just get a good prepared bait like Secret 7 or get a cast net and fish with shad. You could always hit the grocery store and get liver or shrimp if you want to catch channels.

I've used strawberry Coolaid and other sweet smelling drinks/liquids on them. I've caught some fish that way, but I'm not sure I haven't caught just as many without the soaking. Just cut 'em up in one inch chunks and put them on the hook. I've even sprayed them with garlic scent, WD-40, etc. and caught fish. I'm not sure the added liquid/spray scent does any good but it makes me feel better.

I tried using hot dogs soaked in garlic salt and red koolaid the other day. I didn't get a single bite. I set another rod with liver flavored powerbait and caught 4 channel cats.

I think Big red is supposed to be used for making good carp dough bait

we have had great success with hotdogs on jugs. We had a 5 or 6 jugs with shad and 3 or so with hotdogs. The hotdogs won. We will sometimes when it is cold and I dont want to throw nets steal the hotdogs from fridge and go. they work good. Also if you let them dry out for a day or so they stay on hook better and work just as well.

I was Lake Murray fishing off back of houseboat in Marina and had something break 30# Sufix braid on on dried hotdog .
