If anyone heads up 287 through Wichita Falls, CFS is pretty tasty at any of the Pioneer drive ins, resturants now .Its not the largerst but it is good. I don't go buy quantity I go by quality. Looks like Mary's has both. Also P3's enchiladas are good. I reccommend Pioneers favorite enchilada plate. It comes with french fries and cole slaw. I know it sounds weird but try it, I'm bettin you'll like it.

Goodson's Cafe, Tomball, Texas. It's perfect and "if it were any bigger it would be illegal". +100 on Goodson's in Tomball.

Don't remember the name of the restaurant, but it is the one next to the Ft. Worth Stockyard Hotel. I thought it was pretty darn good.

I ate at a place in Brady Tx in 2006. I do not remember the name but I asked the waitress is the owner was there. Had to give them some compliments.

Mary's in Strawn is the best. I don't know much, but I do know CFS. This is the best other that cooking it yourself. The quantities are unreal and really fried right. WH

Old South pancake house - Fort Worth. That was a really good lunch! Based on your recommendation I went there for lunch this past Tuesday. I had never been to this restaurant before. Rating 1 to 10 Taste - 8 Texture - 8Overally, a very good chicken-fried steak. Gravy and rolls were good too. (To me, it was better than Mary's in Strawn)Thanks for the recommendation.

As much as I like Mary's, it's true that some times you will hit an off day. In fact, about 7 years ago or so and the next following couple of years I swore the place off. I don't know what happened. Every time I went to the place it had dirty tables and poor service and the food wasn't right.
I guess they busted some heads because for the last couple of years it has been the best it's ever been.

WESTERN SKY SAN ANGELO TX BEST CHICKEN FRIED STEAK ANYWHERE ITS AS TENDER AS MY HEART I have to second this opinion. I am originally from east Texas and have been stationed all over Texas in the Army(amongst a few other less desirable places in my 21 years) and the best CFS by far is at the Western Sky Steak House in San Angelo.

Mary's is the best I've ever had. I've been eating there since about 90 or 91 and they were absolutely the best until about 2000 or so. The quality started tapering off. They didn't change hands they were just off. Then a few years ago they got on their game again. I don't like fries with a CFS anyway and I don't like those kind of fries on top of that. I don't care to have the salad on the same plate either but as far as the CFS, it's the best I've ever had. I usually only get a small nowadays. I would prefer it with mashed potatoes and green beans or broccoli, but what the hell: you can't have every thing and I don't like to rock the boat when I'm in a place. I just like to get it like they serve it and make due. I still think it's the best tasting CFS. I have got agree with you 100%. I started eating mary`s mexican food instead of the chicken fry some time ago but I tried one about 6 months ago and it was back where it used to be. We usually drive up there about every other week but make reservations. As a matter of fact we will be going in about an hour to celebrate my wifes birthday. We go to marys to celebrate everyones birthday. We have also been eating there since 1990 when the secret got out about how good her CHICKEN FRY is.We go there so often some of my friends at work call me --chicken fry.

The Cotton Gin in Crandall, or Double T steakhouse in Terrell. Both are really good.
