Had the privilege to fish with good friends “El Nitro” and Bryon from TNT laugh He informed us he was coming into town for the weekend and we set up a little fishing trip for him. We asked him if he wanted to try something a little different and he said sure grin We all got up at 3:30 am Saturday and headed for Fairfield to try and get Bryon on his fist red. Our baits were in the water 10 min and first fish on . I hauled in a nice red ,then the middle rod went off and it was Bryon’s fight… He could not believe the power of the REDFISH . Well, got it in the boat and it was huge… It was like a fire drill for the next hour or so and “El Nitro” was an excellent net man… at one time we had triples on and then the front rod went off, John grabbed the rod and it was his biggest red to date, bigger than Bryons… My cell phone battery went dead so all I got was a pic of Bryon’s, but they did get pics with the digi camera so maybe they will post those later. We ended the morning at about 10:30 am with 16 reds caught and released and then “El Nitro” used his casting skills to net us some tilapia grin caught 15 of those and they were huge along with 2 huge blue gill and a 7 pound channel cat… he was released. We all decided since it was early we would head to Richland Chambers since it is so close. We arrived at the Fisherman’s Warf and ate some great hamburgers and fries. Talk to the always nice Royce Simmons and he gave us a few hints laugh thanks Royce thumb We caught a lot of whites and some small hybrids… About 4:00pm the guys said “what do you want to do” , If we are going to leave lets leave now or stay till dark to see if we can get into some hybrids… we getting up at 3:30 and fishing all day took the toll… We called it quits and went home laugh All in all a great catching day…

I would like to thank Jackie Kennedy from http://www.jackiekennedyfishingguide.com/ . If you want to catch some reds , spend the money and hire him… he will save you a lot of money in the long run. Time you figure gas and trying to figure out what to do it is money well spent. We also saw Vaughn that morning going out, good seeing you also. If it was not for Jackie it would not be possible to catch Reds on Fairfield for us.

And if you ever want to fish RC be sure to give Royce a chance at http://www.gonefishin.biz/ … He has always been extremely polite and very helpful every time I have called him.

John,

The five Guys with me on the Afternoon trip were brothers. Four were visiting from the Northeast and one had a "Curse" on him that affected the others fishing! smile Their last few trips around the US had resulted in few and sometimes zero fish. We broke the "Curse"! Doug (The cursed one) caught a fish on his first drop down! We picked up around 25 fish on the Windsock, a few on the South Shoreline and then sat on Pelcan Island the remainder of the Afternoon. After you left the Island, we C & R around 200 fish! The Sandies really turned on big time around 4:00 PM.

Nice to see you and holler anytime!

Here are a few more pics from that awesome morning of fishing. I was happy that Bryon caught a a good size redfish, but even happier that I caught one bigger laugh Up until that point I was telling Bryon and Varner to grab the rods that go down and I'll just work the net. Glad I grabbed that particular rod rock Thanks to Jackie for all of the tips and advice!!!

Great post varner, I like seeing those types of posts with everyone working together to help each other out. Specifically talking about you mentioning Royce & Jackie. Just goes to show what kind of guy you are! I'm glad you had a fun trip! I'll add that Jackie, Royce, & Varner I have all met and heard lots of good things about from customers we have in common.. Great guides, give them a call.

Hey Varner & Nitro, thanks for letting me hook up with you guys on a much needed get away and just go fishing trip. This has been one of the craziest years I have ever lived in my life, lots of ups and downs, and very little fishing time mixed in. Getting to hit those two lakes was just awesome. Have wanted to catch a Red for some time, but just really never can find the time to get to go, so I am glad this all worked out the way it did this weekend. Thanks Jackie and Royce for helping out with our trips, really made for a good day for us guys to hang out and have a good trip + catching those fish....Hey Varner how did that Largemouth taste,lol....just kidding we threw it back....but it was discussed.

Lastly, thanks to JP Greeson. I am a big fan of this place. Over the past few years I have gotten the opportunity to meet and make a lot of new friends along the way. This may have never happened without this place.

Couple more different views of those fish( We smiled all the way home after this day)...Thanks again guys for the hospitality that you and your families have shown me!!!

Great report Guys and good story telling.

Bryon, did you try the TNT on those Reds?

I've caught about every thing out of the Bays (Trout (Specs & Sand), Skip Jacks, Whiting, Blue Fish), with TNT but I don't think I've caught a red yet on TNT. I've even lost a TNT to a BIG SHARK fishing in the Surf - but he hit a skip jack that had hit my TNT.

Maybe next Month it will be Reds on TNT, heading back to Port Aransas sometime next month.

That's a Great Day you Guys had,

Mark, yes it was a great time. No we did just bait on this trip. I know that the Redfish on that lake do like the silver 180's though. Good customer on here uses them quite a bit on a pattern that should start here in another month or two. I bet it would be a lot of fun to get those redfish on some lures, maybe next time.
