No, but I'd put my money on her getting the biggest AJ.

Allen, you're pushing it, but since you have, here's my favorite:

Bryan,

I think your link is off a bit.
It took me a minute to correlate things together and realize they are showing a 2' surf here right now, and well lets just say it was a rough SOB out there today

try this one,

http://www.stormsurfing.com/cgi/display1.cgi?a=gom_height

Its much closer...

btw, thanks for the link, I had'nt browsed their site in a long time and they've really updated things (like the link I just posted)

I'll be calling the Captain this weekend to get an idea of what he expects as far as the conditions and where he thinks our time will be best spent.

Hopefully for the daytime fishing sake, we get a good word from the BV/nancen area and get to head that direction...

God forbid we do some trolling, I will need some lures. Advice? Of course, I want something inexpensive. :-)

you were on the last trip, do what I did and go try to buy something that matches the rig that caught the tuna smile I also bought an islander as Chris (at serious tackle) swears they probably produce more fish in the gulf than any other rig.

I didnt spend a bunch, so we'll see... did I mention I HATE TROLLING! smile

Since one Bryan has already mentioned weather having another will not increase the "bad juju" or need for "purple balls." So at risk on being wrong on those two highly sensitive and important issues had to report some good news this morning from wunderground.com the blog.
"Quiet in the Atlantic. A tropical wave (92L) that is moving along the northern coast of South America has only a very limited amount of heavy thunderstorms, thanks to interaction with land. There are no threat areas in the Atlantic to discuss, and none of the computer models are calling for tropical storm formation over the next seven days." Jeff Masters

Folks, email sent to all 20 people on Ocho Tuna. Read at your leisure, but we really need input from all involved before 7 am Monday.

I can loan you a couple. They are cheap compared to marlin lures.

I have a couple of rolls of trolling lures that will be along.

The blue and white islanders are king of the gulf in my book.
The sea star style is one of my favorites.

I did notice last time trolling behind the cat that a weighted head skirted lure did well and stayed right below the prop wash.

If we are going to troll. Captain Hale will probably be very involved on lure style, color and placement.

He is a very experienced sportfisherman and the entire crew (deckhands included)were taught how it was done last time I was out.

Thanks Jerry and Kurtis. I'll just borrow one then, and pay you for it if I lose it or mess it up. Can I troll with an Avet 30/2 with about 500yds of 130# braid, mounted on an Ugly stik all roller 80-130# class rod? That's now my only "big" outfit, which I normally use for bottom fishing/deep drop. It may not be ideal, but is it sufficient?
