I have been making what I call "spider jigs" using spinnerbait skirt. I haven't got out to test them yet. But I tie a normal jig up to the head then I take a small bunch of short pieces of spinnerbait skirt. Put them up to the head and pull tight causing it to "spider" just wondering if anybody else does this, and if so how it works.

I've tied some like that. I experiment a lot with different materials. I saw something about that on another forum earlier today.

They are a little like this. http://landbigfish.com/images/store/swatches/BL-SRFinesse.jpg

I dont have pics and thats the closest I can come up with. Tie the back with whatever tail material you like. then put your body material on, then tie the head like that.

My thought was sometimes people catch crappie when fishing for bass... so why not shrink a bass bait?

So I wanted a bass "jig" the first one had longer "back skirt" then I thought if I trimmed it back it might look like a fat shad... and wiggle just enough to have a crappie thump it... now if I can just find the fish!
