Had about 45 minutes to kill before i had to clock in at my evening job, and since my job is literally on the banks of Bachman Lake, I could not pass up the opportunity! On a warm, muggy, gray day, in the middle of rush hour, who would think you could find peace and solace(and fish) in the heart of the city?

Tossing an orange rooster tail, in that 45 minutes i caught 4 black bass and hooked and lost at least that many more, right behind the radio shack where i work evenings and weekends!

Here is the biggest one, not a monster, but a darn nice one to catch on six pound test line and a 5 ft UL rod!

Fish not at all hard to find since they were busting shad and minnows all over the surface, all over the lake!

That is the Lemmon Avenue bridge in the background loaded with bumper to bumper traffic at 5:40 PM on a Tuesday afternoon.

Good times indeed!

Rudy,

I just left there, went out on my lunch break, I had similar results a while ago. Started out with a lil crappie jig and nothing. Put a yellow and black rooster tail on that my buddy loaned me and I landed 2 and lost 2. One of them was a solid fish, the other were on the smaller side, but a fun way to spend a lunch break. Both tossed back to grow. I see what you mean about them hitting the surface. I saw a little surface action while I was there. I was at the crappie hole a little ways down (at the under water you know what behind the you know what) last week but no one home. When do they start showing up there? How long do this bass bite like this in this area? If ya want you can PM me.

Jimmy

They start showing up there when we get into solid, long term cooler weather, and after first frost they are there for the duration

The bass may hang around until Christmas or so, depending on weather stability. but should be Good to GREAT at least to the end of this month.

Rudy,

If I start working on Inwood, I'll have to get you to show me how those city bass bite.

no problemo!

Rudy

Caught 3 more today between 5:30 and 6 pm when I had to go clock in.

Today they hit a chartreuse rooster tail with black polka dots on it.

Another "representative" sample of what was biting my hook today. Notice the rooster tail and color. Torpedo shaped Florida strain MLB, was actively feeding on shad some 10 ft from bank when he hit it.

Wow, that is a real skinny fish. See any boats in there lately?

So my record is still holding up huh?

I was out at the Lemmon Ave Bridge spot for an hour or two last weekend. Only managed two, but one went a respectable 14 inches.

Both caught on crankbaits.
