I will be fishing at PK in a couple of weeks. I have never fished it before, so any info on cover, structure, and forage would be helpful.
Also, any suggestions on the best place to put in would be appreciated also.

Army it has been a couple of years since I have been down to PK. It got hit pretty hard with Golden Algae so the bite was not that good. If I remember right spinner baits in the backs of coves worked but the bite was slow. Hope that helps some.
Good luck

I appreciate the info. I have talked to a couple of others and they are in agreement with you about the algae.
I'll try next weekend and see what happens.

White spinnerbaits have always done well on PK, Blue Fleck and Red Shad do well. Crankbaits and Jigs(Black/Blue). Your going to need a map to find the standing timber which is nearly always good. Cedar Crk, and Caddo produce lots of fish. Haven't fished in a few months, just have to find that pattern and work it....GOOD LUCK!

PK has always been one of my favorite spots, earlier this year i pulled a 9+lb sow off one of the bigger points. I have been successful with both white and chartruse spinnerbaits earlier in the year, now that the heat is on the bit will most likely be slower, i would work some larger soft plastics in the thick timber just off the points in the back coves of PK also if there early enough the fish should be hugged up on the back. Definitly try a fluke weightless running it off the bank, should have some good success. I have stocked my pond quite well with may 5lb+ bass from these very techniques. You will most likely see me out there if you are going to be out on Sat.

Do a search on Randy Wood - He posts on PK more than most.

my aunt has a lake house just off the point where it goes into caddo creek just south of bass island just before dark we turn on 2 halogen flood lights mounted just about 2 foot above the water. at dark we use a black grub just throw out where the light stops and let it fall back toward the dock we can normally count to 10 or 15 then they nail it.
6inch red shad worm caught my big fish 11 3/4 lbs LMB
you can boat over to the caddo creek where it opens up into the lake look west to the pump station watch for boiling water and the birds have a spoon ready to throw

I'm new. Grew up on PK. Have a spot down towards the dam that i've been blowing up through the years. Maybe i'll let you know about it sometime...Striper, largemout, smallmouth, everything. I hit up the bend around hogs reef about a month ago. The white bass were blistering the water real nice. Hadn't seen them do that in about 10 years. I have never used the black grub (will try as soon as i get back), but any dock you can find: drop a sivler slap with the white tail, red band, across the water towards the edge of the light. Let it sink to the bottom. Give it a steady pace when reeling in. If the striper or whites don't hit it on the way up within 5 to 10 than they are probably not biting. I am headed back out this weekend fo a one nighter. Wondering if anybody has any early morning spots around the hells gate damn area they would like to share.

Thanks for all of your help gentlemen. I was finally able to get out to PK last weekend, and I had a pretty good time. I had most of my success on main lake points with white and bluegill colored spinnerbaits in 10 - 20 foot of water. I caught a pretty nice largemouth on a silver flake spook. I also did pretty well fighing around one of the islands with weightless worms and flukes, but I can't remember which island. I can't wait to go back.
